Side with Galway for a goal-ridden encounter
Galway United are the bookies' favourites at 9/10 for Saturday's Premier Division 2026 match against Waterford FC, with the Blues priced at 49/20 and the draw at 29/10.
We're going to give Galway the edge here, but it really could go either way given that this will be a clash of styles with a bit of a chess match feel about it. Paul Doolin's men like to keep it tight and keep their shape, but when they get the ball, they will push it wide and get the midfielders to play it in behind the forward for the lone striker to chase.
Waterford, on the other hand, have looked a lot more positive under Graham Coughlan and they utilise the width of the pitch, press well and will get the ball forward quickly when they win it back. That's led to plenty of games where they've got the better of their opponents, particularly in terms of tempo.
Blues' Lonergan has the sharpest teeth
In their current shape, we're predicting that Galway will get the better of this one, but both teams can get on the scoresheet and the likeliest outcome is that we'll see a goal-laden encounter. The last Premier Division 2026 head-to-head finished 1-1 two months ago and both sides have improved since then, but Galway have just a little more about them at the moment.

Matty Wolfe has also chipped in with four of Galway's ten goals in the past five matches and has added a real box threat from the middle of the park. Tom Lonergan has taken Waterford's scoring crown with 12 goals in 22 Premier Division 2026 appearances and has been a consistent goal threat for the past month, netting four of the Blues' 10 goals.
Galway United are seventh in the Premier Division 2026 with 27 points from 23 games, while Waterford are ninth with 21 points from 24 matches. The Tribesmen have been a bit more consistent, but neither side is likely to overwhelm the other at Pearse Stadium, Ireland.
