Jambos and Saints unlikely to serve up much joy
Hearts of Midlothian FC and St. Johnstone will go head-to-head at Tynecastle Park on Saturday and the signs point to the Jambos coming out on top, although they will have to work hard to do so.
Hearts sit fifth in the Premiership 2026/2027 standings on three points from two matches, while the Saints occupy sixth spot on the same number of points from the same two games. Hearts are the 63/100 odds-on favourites to win on Saturday, with St. Johnstone available at 39/10 and the draw at 59/20.
Wouter Vrancken's men are in mixed form, having won two, drawn two and lost one of their last five games, but those two most recent matches will have given Saints something to fear on Saturday. Hearts blasted Inverness Caledonian Thistle 6-2 at home on Tuesday night, showing plenty of attacking flair and then some resolve as the visitors clawed back to 3-2 before Hearts scored a late fourth.
The Jambos then held on to draw 2-2 with SK Rapid Wien in midweek, showing their resolve and resilience again. Hearts are a compact, mid-block team that transition quickly and can be very dangerous, but they also have the discipline to sit in and keep things tight when they need to.
Simo Valakari's men are a similar story, pressing high and trying to get on the front foot as much as possible with an energetic 4-2-3-1 system, but Hearts' measured build-up play and selective pressing will test them.
