- Inter Miami are unbeaten after five matches (W2, D3), including a 2-0 away win at Real Salt Lake and 1-1 draw at home with New England Revolution.
- Orlando City have one win, one draw and one loss in their last three MLS 2026 away fixtures.
Messi & Miami can take Florida Derby
Inter Miami CF enter Saturday’s Florida Derby as clear favorites against a struggling Orlando City side, but there’s every chance the visitors will get on the scoresheet when these long-time MLS rivals meet.
Inter Miami are 6th in MLS 2026 with 19 points from ten games, having established a consistent, if not spectacular record since the season began.
Angel Guillermo Hoyos was appointed in April 2026 and has quickly put his stamp on the team, installing a possession-based system built around Messi.
The Miami side will patiently build up from the back, mix things up with technical combinations and varying the tempo with Messi and midfield runners overloading opposing defences. But it’s clear that Orlando City SC will set up to try and disrupt their rhythm.
City will press and press again
Martin Perelman took charge of Orlando City SC in March 2026 and is still working on establishing the identity of his team, which has changed a lot since Óscar Pareja’s compact, team-first approach.
City’s style is more direct, looking to play through transitions and at a higher tempo than Miami, with lots of pressing, but it hasn’t yet been effective enough to lift them above 27th position in MLS 2026 with only seven points from 10 games.
Martin Ojeda has four goals in ten MLS 2026 appearances and is the only real sharpness for City, who have won two, drawn one, and lost two of their five MLS 2026 games, including a 3-2 defeat away to D.C. United and 0-1 home defeat to Houston Dynamo.
They also thrashed Charlotte 4-1 at home, which illustrates the inconsistency that is keeping Orlando in trouble.
Dodgy defence doomed to defeat
Miami beat Orlando 4-2 in MLS 2026’s previous meeting, but that doesn’t tell the whole story because of the way in which the two teams play the game.
Inter are yet to lose a home match this season, but three successive draws (W0, D3, L0) with goals both ways have clearly shown there’s a need for a win.
Messi’s creativity and scoring touch have been the driving force behind Inter Miami’s 10-goal surge over their last five matches and we’ll take the hosts, who have conceded five goals in three home matches, to win with goals both ends on Saturday.
Take Inter to win at 31/100 and Both Teams to Score - Yes at 51/100, while there’s a shade of value in the Total Score Over 2.5 option at 6/25 because this is likely to be an open contest with both teams needing to press ahead.
