New England can shut up Philadelphia
New England Revolution will look to extend their winning home record to six from five when they play host to Eastern Conference strugglers Philadelphia Union in MLS 2026 on Saturday.
Marko Mitrovic’s 4-2-3-1/4-3-3 Revolution have been a delight to watch since he took over in November 2025, patiently building up attacks from the back and playing the ball centrally where Luca Langoni’s six assists in 10 MLS 2026 games have been key.
Philadelphia’s Bradley Carnell has taken a different approach to the game since taking the reins in January 2025, preferring to press, transition quickly into attack and look for goalmouth chances.
Revs can shut out blunt Philly
Carnell’s men have delivered some high-tempo performances, but consistency has been a problem, especially on the road where they have won only once and lost four times in six attempts. Union drew 0-0 at home to Nashville SC, a result that came off the back of a 2-0 away defeat to Columbus Crew.
New England have been solid as a rock at Gillette Stadium, conceding only two goals in five matches (0.40 per game) since the start of the campaign. Mitrovic’s tactical discipline has turned them into a fortress and they could easily shut out a blunt Philadelphia attack in this clash.
Head-to-head dominance may not count
While Philadelphia will be the happier travellers based on their recent domination of this fixture, the Revolution are the better team on paper and have the home advantage this time around. We’re expecting them to break their run of not winning the last two home meetings between these sides and take all three points.
It could be a high-scoring game as both clubs have been involved in many such games this term, but we think one of them will keep a clean sheet to make it difficult for the other. The odds of 83/50 on a New England win are generous enough to tempt a punt, particularly as they come back from a 1-0 win at home to Charlotte in MLS off the back of a 3-4 US Open Cup defeat to Orlando City.
