- Santa Clara have won three of the last five meetings between the sides (D0, L2), including 1-0 in their last home head-to-head.
- Santa Clara (4 points from 2 matches) have made a more solid start than Famalicao (1 point from 2) in the Primeira Liga 2026/2027.
- Both teams have two matches each in the Primeira Liga 2026/2027, so they are both relatively fresh.
Santa Clara can edge a close battle
Santa Clara have made a solid start to the Primeira Liga 2026/2027 and they should be able to push Famalicão close in the Azores on Sunday.
Petit's side have one draw and four points from two games so far and those points have come with bite. They opened the season with a 2-2 home draw against Nacional Madeira Funchal, which was a useful start, and then they picked up their first win of the campaign with a 1-0 victory away to Académico Viseu last weekend.
The hosts have also scored two at the other end to show they have the power to strike in the middle of the Azores.
No clear edge for either team
Famalicão have won one, drawn two and lost two of their last five matches, which makes them difficult to pick out on the Double Chance market. Carlos Carvalhal took over on 12 July 2026 and the early signs suggest he has maintained the club's high-energy, pressing identity while adding his own twist.
The visitors have also got results with a bite, as their 1-1 away draw at Estoril Praia was followed up by a 2-1 home defeat to CS Marítimo Funchal, so they are not yet at their rhythm.
Famalicão edged the last head-to-head 1-0 away from home in the Primeira Liga 2025/2026 and Santa Clara will know they have to be more clinical in the final third if they want to take something from this game. The draw and Both Teams to Score No at 73/100 are favoured here because this should be a close tactical battle with little room for the teams to express themselves.
Spoils could be shared
Although Santa Clara have a slight edge from the head-to-head record, our selection of the draw and Both Teams to Score No does not preclude the possibility of a narrow home win and the odds are certainly good enough to take a small risk on Petit's men to secure the win at 39/20, although 17/10 is a bit short for Famalicão and 39/20 is also a touch low for the tie.
The 2.5 goal mark looks tight with Santa Clara averaging 2.0 at home and Famalicão conceding 1.0 away and it's fair to say neither side has yet been setting the world on fire.
Gonçalo Paciência is Santa Clara's main danger man with three goals in two Primeira Liga 2026/2027 games, but he has been doing it all for them in their previous five-game run. Famalicão are not without their own livewire up top in Georgios Koutsias, who has one goal in one, so we are going to play a bit of a wait-and-see game on the anytime scorer front as Diogo Calila has also been a useful creator for the hosts with one assist in two.
Santa Clara's 3-4-3 and counter-attacking shape should test the high-energy Famalicão press, especially out wide. But the visitors will surely pin the home side back with their tempo and counter-pressing, so it could be a game of breakaways and the sharp shooter is likely to be the difference.
