- Sligo Rovers FC are the 9/20 favourites with Kerry FC 93/20 and the draw 17/5.
- Sligo have won none, drawn two and lost two of their last four at home.
- Kerry have won four of their last five with one loss.
Two teams with contrasting styles
The odds reflect a sense that Sligo Rovers FC should win on Saturday, but that's not entirely clear to us. Kerry FC are a decent side that have had the Bit O'Red's number in recent times and, just like in the FAI Cup 2025, they could certainly cause an upset.
Colin Healy has Kerry set up as a compact, high-energy unit that can be lethal in transition. They press well and get after teams, especially second balls, when they can't get them on the turn. Darren Purse has taken Sligo in the opposite direction since taking charge on 24 July 2026, encouraging a more positive, possession-based game where they try to dictate the tempo and pressure opponents through front-foot pressing.
The contrast in styles could lead to a real chess match if Sligo settle things early, but Kerry have the pace and directness to make things happen in the second half or if they get on the front foot. There's plenty of evidence to suggest this will be a thriller, just as the 4-3 win at home in the FAI Cup 2025 suggested.
Sligo have enough goals in them
Kerry are the form team with seven wins, one draw and two losses in their last 10 in all competitions, while Sligo have been indifferent with one win, three draws and six defeats in the same number of games.
Kerry's last three outings resulted in a 4-0 win away at Bray Wanderers AFC, a 3-0 win at home to Cobh Ramblers and a 3-1 defeat away to Cork City FC in the First Division 2026. Sligo's last three results have been a 2-2 draw at home with Drogheda United, a 1-1 draw away at Dundalk FC and a 2-0 loss away to Derry City in the Premier Division 2026.
Go for goals and a Kerry goal
Sligo have scored six goals at home in all current competitions, which is a rate of 1.50. However, their results haven't been good enough and they remain winless at home after four games, drawing two and losing two.
Kerry have averaged 1.80 goals scored and 1.40 conceded per away game in the same set of fixtures and we think they can trade blows with the hosts in a cup game. An Sligo win with both teams to score fits the script best, but it won't be a stroll for the favourites against a team that knows how to ruffle their feathers in these contests. Cian Kavanagh is Sligo's main spark, scoring four of the nine goals they've scored in their last five matches.
