- Southend United are on a two-game winning streak but are just 3-0-2 at home this season.
- Berkhamsted FC are also in fine form with seven wins from their last ten in all competitions.
- Shrimpers have scored 12 goals in their last five home matches, while The Comrades have scored eight times in their last five away.
Set for a good old cup scrap
Southern League Premier Division South Berkhamsted FC could certainly give a good account of themselves when they travel to face Southend United in 2026's FA Cup Qualification on Saturday afternoon. The Comrades come into this clash in fine fettle, winning 2-0 at Redditch United in this competition before a 3-0 victory over Yate Town in the Southern League Premier Division South last time out.
Their away record is also good, with three wins, one draw and one defeat from their last five on the road in all competitions. So the visitors could definitely have something to offer the Shrimpers on Saturday.
Southend boss Kieron Dyer, who has been in charge at Roots Hall since 1 July, has certainly made his side more progressive with width, tempo and runs from midfield. They'll look to set the pace and control territory against a team that are likely to set up compact and pragmatic, but the visitors will be ready to pounce on any counter-attacking opportunities.
Back an away win
That style clash looks set to deliver a scrappy encounter where The Shrimpers will have to work hard to break through, while Berkhamsted have the quality to nick it on the counter. Southend United's home record has been a little chequered with three wins and two defeats from their five fixtures in all competitions this season, while the away side are coming into this in much better form overall.
The odds for an away triumph don't look too bad at 32/5, particularly as Berkhamsted have been in better form than Southend with seven wins from their last ten in all competitions compared to five for the Shrimpers.
Both teams have been good going forward, however, so the main recommendation here is to back 'over 2.5 goals' and 'both teams to score' as the main selections, while also taking the punt on the away win in the result market.
