Friday’s Serie A clash between Torino and Sassuolo will be a meeting of two very different approaches to the game as the hosts, under Roberto D’Aversa, are a pragmatic, compact side that focus on defending with numbers, restricting their risks and hitting opponents on the counter with directness.
Sassuolo, on the other hand, are an open, possession-based side with wide overloads, swift transitions and attacking full-backs, meaning a clash in styles is expected on Friday. Although Sassuolo have never won away at Torino FC, the Neroverdi are the team in better form, in the superior league position and with the attacking edge. Fabio Grosso’s side have blended Sassuolo’s traditional technical, attack-minded football with top-flight tactical nous this season and Andrea Pinamonti, with eight goals in 33 Serie A games, is their most reliable outlet in attack.
Torino, meanwhile, will turn to Giovanni Simeone, who leads their scoring charts with 10 goals in 29 Serie A appearances, to fire them to victory.
