What annoys me is how quickly people flatten every football debate into one neat answer. Yes, managers get judged unfairly, yes the media loves a scapegoat, yes the players have to take some responsibility, but that does not mean the actual decisions were good. If you are going to go defensive you need a shape, you need discipline, you need an outlet, and you need the players buying into it for more than a few minutes. Instead it looked frantic, then passive, then even more frantic, and everybody was standing around waiting for someone else to fix it, which is exactly why fans lose their heads because it feels like the team are just drifting into disaster and nobody on the touchline is slamming the brakes on or changing the picture and it becomes this horrible slow motion car crash where you can already hear the excuses coming before the final whistle and honestly it does your head in
