Nader Mohammadi's monster throw-in

People are always so quick to laugh at the team on the end of a long throw like they have been mugged off but if you are defending it properly you know how nasty it is to deal with because the ball comes in with pace, the box gets crowded, and one tiny mistake can make it look like the whole defence has fallen apart. Spartak Kostroma deserve credit for having someone who can do that, because it is not just about launching it, it is about making the other side uncomfortable from the first second and that is a real skill even if some lads online want to call it ugly football and act superior about it

The main point is that a throw like this changes the geometry of the pitch and forces the defending line to react earlier than they want to, which is why managers still care about it even if people think it is old fashioned. But then you start thinking about all the weird little throw-in specialists over the years and how football has always had these tiny niche skills that become cult favourites, and suddenly I am remembering school games, Sunday league chaos, and that one mate who could sling it miles but could not trap a ball to save his life

There is a real tactical reason these throws keep surviving. If the ball is arriving that quickly and that deep, the defending side has to reset their marking instantly, and that can create the same sort of panic you get from a dangerous free kick. It is not pretty, but it is absolutely a weapon.

i just love seeing mad stuff like this because it feels like proper football chaos and not everything has to be tiki taka and neat little triangles sometimes you just want a lad to launch it and see what happens and this was exactly that

I am telling you now if I were playing against this guy I would be raging because Nader Mohammadi is basically turning every throw-in into a threat and that is the sort of thing that breaks your head as a defender, you think you have sorted the shape out and then he just fires the ball into your box like he is launching a missile from a catapult, proper nightmare fuel, and the worst part is people will watch it once and say it is a gimmick but when you have to defend against it over and over it becomes a whole bloody problem, the keeper has to come for it or stay, the centre backs have to guess, the full backs are looking over their shoulders and suddenly everyone is in panic mode because one bloke with a ludicrous arm has changed the game, and fair play to him because that is outrageous, but also mate I would absolutely hate being the defender in that box, it is just constant stress and I would be shouting at everyone to wake up while he keeps hurling them in like a man possessed
