- APIA Leichhardt Tigers U20 beat Rockdale Ilinden U20 2-0 in the only previous fixture between these two sides in the 2026 NPL NSW U20.
- APIA Leichhardt Tigers are unbeaten in their last six matches, winning four and drawing two, while Rockdale Ilinden have won one, drawn three and lost two in their last six.
APIA and Rockdale to take it to the wire
The only fixture between these sides in the NPL New South Wales U20 2026 season saw top-of-the-table APIA run out 2-0 winners away to mid-to-lower-table Rockdale on 14th March.
The hosts are rightfully the odds-on favourites at 1.5, with Rockdale 4.75 and the draw 4.45 here, but we feel there's more value in the goal markets where over 2.5 goals at 1.28 looks a touch short, albeit still a fair odds, and both teams to score at 1.37 is just under even money.
APIA's 47-13 goal record is a statistic of champions and they've been ruthless in recent weeks, scoring 12 goals in their last four listed matches. The last of those was a 5-1 hammering of UNSW U20 and, while there's no disrespect intended to the young Terriers, they're not the calibre of opponent APIA will face on Sunday.
Rockdale ready to pounce
Rockdale have been good at times during their recent six-match run, but they've won just one of those games and their 5-1 thrashing of WS Wanderers U20 was spoilt by a defensive wobble.
Paul Dee's side are set up to be more controlled in their build-up, but they do have a flexible width to them and their late-teen players, including Lukas Ribarevski and Dean Jovcevski, have the energy and skill to pounce if APIA are caught out by the odd swift counter.
Franco Parisi's APIA are a front-foot team that use their possession and high-tempo shape to starve opponents of the ball and suffocate them in their own box. They also have a reliable last line in Luka Cikota, a direct goal threat in Danil Romanov and a talented link-up man in Jack Harvey Zhou.
APIA are the team to side with
With APIA boasting a better head-to-head record in the youth set-up, and with this also being a rematch with Grand Final 2026 edge, the bookies and the table agree that the Tigers are the correct choice for Sunday's clash.
We're taking APIA to come out on top, and there's a real chance that they do so in a high-scoring clash in which both teams get on the scoresheet.
