Back BvB to win at short odds
Borussia Dortmund have an interesting challenge ahead of them at home to Eintracht Frankfurt on Saturday as Niko Kovac's side look to strengthen their hold on second place in the Bundesliga 2026/2027.
Die Borussen are the most likely winners here, but Frankfurt's combination of aggressive pressing, transition speed and counter-press could ensure this isn't a walkover for the home side.
Dortmund sit second in the table with 14 points from their first six games, but their recent form is not quite as good as it has been this term with 2 wins, 2 draws and a defeat from their last 5. Frankfurt, meanwhile, are languishing in 11th with eight points from six matches and could do with a result to kick-start the campaign.
Frankfurt’s fast footy appeals
Adi Hütter's side are playing at pace on the break and through the half-spaces with some style and are not afraid to press Borussia Dortmund aggressively when they have the ball. Their most recent three results have been a 6-0 loss at RB Leipzig, a 1-0 home win over Köln and a 4-0 friendly win over Braunschweig, so it seems likely they will be involved in a tight encounter. Dortmund have enough shape to play their way through the pressure on their own when they have the ball, and Frankfurt's counter-press could force turnovers, making the game lively. Kovac has his team in good shape and they should be able to hurt their opponents when they have the opportunity to play vertically.
Die Adler can do some damage
The home team's recent head-to-head record against Frankfurt is good - winning 3 of the last 5 including a 3-2 win here some five months ago - and Frankfurt have failed to win on their last two visits. Dortmund have a three-at-the-back formation that should be strong enough to contain Frankfurt and even turn them over, particularly when they press, so we'll back the hosts to take the spoils.
Backing Dortmund at 1.44 is a little brave for a side that can be fragile, but we'll chance it given Frankfurt have won only 1 of the past 5 meetings and because the odds on the draw (4.9) and Frankfurt (5.75) are so far behind. An over 2.5 goals play at 1.33 looks like a winner for two good attacking teams, although we won't be adding that as our main selection.
Silva and Ebnoutalib make sense
Fabio Silva remains Dortmund's biggest threat in the box with two goals in three Bundesliga 2026/2027 games, but Felix Nmecha has chipped in with two in the past five games, which adds some midfield penetration to the hosts. In that regard, the best scorer on both teams is Frankfurt's Younes Ebnoutalib, who has four goals in four games in the Bundesliga 2026/2027 and is adept at making the most of half-chances that might otherwise come to nothing.
