- Eintracht Frankfurt are 10th in the Bundesliga 2026-2027 table with five points from four games.
- 1. FC Köln are 13th in the Bundesliga 2026-2027 standings, also on four points.
- Eintracht Frankfurt have failed to win their last two Bundesliga 2026-2027 home games (D1, L1).
Odds favour home side, but don’t overlook the Billy Goats
The bookies are having none of it when it comes to an away win for 1. FC Köln on Friday and are making Die Adler (The Eagles) 2.0 favourites to beat Die Geißböcke (The Billy Goats) at Deutsche Bank Park.
And while there is plenty to like about an Eintracht Frankfurt win, the odds do seem narrow given they are winless in two home games this season and Köln are yet to win on the road.
The draw is 4.3, and that seems extremely high given that Frankfurt have won just one of their four Bundesliga 2026-2027 games and are winless in the last two against this opponent, but it does hold some appeal.
Another tight tussle in store
Last season's Bundesliga 2025-2026 meeting between these two finished 2-2 in Frankfurt and the overall H2H record between the two clubs is pretty even with the last three meetings all different results (W1, D1, L1). René Wagner has set his 1. FC Köln side up to be much more compact than Frankfurt and to play a more direct 4-3-3 system where they use their players' ability to play vertically. Adolf Huetter has Frankfurt playing a high-tempo, attack-first game, pressing hard and looking to strike vertically after turnovers.
Goals likely and Frankfurt the more likely to get them
We should see Frankfurt get on top in the overall flow of the game and with the advantage, but Köln are not a team that can just be pushed around. They have enough talent and threat to make this game a tight tussle.
Eintracht have won two, drawn two and lost one of their last five, but they were fresh off an away win at Mainz and a 2-2 draw at home to Freiburg.
Köln have won one, drawn two and lost two of their last five, so neither side is in great form, but a 2-1 defeat at Hamburger SV and 2-2 draw at Viktoria Köln (in a friendly) are not great indications of solidity in defence.
A better alternative to the 2.0 home win price is to take over 2.5 goals at 1.34, which is a clear favourite but there are plenty of goals in this game and both teams have been leaking plenty of them.
Frankfurt have scored 1.50 goals and conceded 3.00 on average in two Bundesliga 2026-2027 home games, while Köln have managed to hit 1.00 goal per game in their two away games and have only scored twice on the road.
Jonathan Burkardt has scored four in Frankfurt's last five and looks the sharpest forward in Die Adler's ranks, while Thijs Dallinga leads the Bundesliga 2026-2027 scoring charts with two in three games for Köln. Linton Maina has two in his last five and Ellyes Skhiri has two assists in four Bundesliga 2026/2027 games.
Frankfurt are the most likely winner in this high-tempo, open match and will edge it, but Köln can certainly make it a good contest.
