- Sevilla FC’s last two visits to Celta de Vigo in LaLiga have ended without a win.
- Celta de Vigo have the superior league position, home advantage, a strong recent H2H record and more attacking firepower than Sevilla FC.
- Celta de Vigo’s style is to control the game and break with speed, Sevilla FC’s is to press and get at the opposition.
Celta can continue recent good run in LaLiga
Celta de Vigo will be looking to continue their positive recent form when they host Sevilla FC in a game that could have big implications at the end of the season for both clubs.
Claudio Giráldez’s side sit 6th in the LaLiga standings with 50 points from 35 games and have a good chance of breaking into European qualification in 2025-2026.
The Galician outfit have won two, drawn one and lost two of their last five LaLiga games, claiming a gutsy 1-0 win at Atletico Madrid before falling to a 2-3 home defeat against Levante and then earning a 1-1 away draw at Athletic Bilbao.
Borja Iglesias is their talisman and with 14 goals in 32 LaLiga appearances, has been their most reliable source of goals, having scored three in Celta’s last five. But Iago Aspas, who is still a threat from wide areas and is the creative spark for many of Celta’s attacks, should not be underestimated either.
Sevilla’s style could lead to their downfall
Sevilla FC are 13th in the table with 40 points from 35 matches and have yet to establish themselves as a stable force since Luis Garcia took over the reins in March 2026.
Their recent form has been good, however, with three wins and two defeats in their last five, but there has been a fair bit of variation in their results - a 2-1 home win over Espanyol, a 3-2 away win at Villarreal and a 0-1 defeat at home to Real Madrid.
Akor Adams has been their main goal threat this season with nine goals in 29 appearances in the league, but Sevilla have the directness and flair of Lucas Ocampos, who can always put the ball in the box or take a chance himself, making them dangerous in transition.
Sevilla’s away record of four wins, three draws and ten defeats from 17 LaLiga games doesn’t inspire confidence and they have conceded 32 goals in that time, suggesting there will be plenty of chances at Balaidos on Saturday.
Celta de Vigo to take three points
We’re supporting Celta de Vigo to win this game because of their higher position in the standings, their superior recent H2H record, the fact they have more goal-scoring threat and have the home advantage. But this clash of styles should ensure there are chances at both ends of the field.
Celta are a team who like to control the ball, using their compact base to draw pressing opponents out of position, then breaking with speed and precision. Sevilla are a pressing side and have had some success, but when the pressing doesn’t work, as it often doesn’t for Sevilla, they are open to being caught.
The home win odds of 1.9 are a bit skinny, but there will be goals in this and Over 2.5 goals at 2.0 and Both Teams to Score - Yes at 1.79 are also recommended bets.
