- Bayern Munchen (W) are 3-2 up on aggregate after winning the first leg at Old Trafford

Bayern in the driving seat before crunch showdown
FC Bayern Munchen (W) are in the driver's seat of this UEFA Women’s Champions League 2025-2026 quarter-final against Manchester United (W) following their 3-2 aggregate lead in the first leg of the tie.
José Barcala’s women are on a winning streak in all competitions, having won their last five games and scored 20 goals while conceding only four.
They look likely to take that momentum into the second leg in Munich to set up a clash with either Barcelona or Real Madrid in the semi-finals, but United have shown enough resilience in domestic and European campaigns this season to suggest they might just keep this contest going until the wire.
United’s United’s grit and goals should see them finish well
United’s win over Everton last time out was a resilient 2-1 victory, and they sit second in the WSL with too much quality and grit to fall away.
Marc Skinner’s team have mixed recent form. They lost the first leg 3-2 at Old Trafford in the previous round and picked up a 2-0 win away at Atletico Madrid in the UWCL play-off.
The Red Devils counter-press excellently and are just as good as the Bavarians at controlling space and exploiting transitions. United’s 4-2-3-1 system can also be played in a narrow 4-3-3 with the width provided by the wing-backs.
Bayern can make all the running
Barcala’s approach is completely different and revolves around a fluid, high-intensity attacking game that has seen Bayern dominate the Frauen-Bundesliga and come back to life in Europe.
The Bavarians can make all the pace in this contest with their second-ball dominance and aerial prowess. However, cool and possibly damp conditions in Munich on Wednesday night could play a part in the tempo of the game and how the ball is controlled.
A home win for Bayern is taken at around 1.51 because the visitors could be on the end of another bit of late drama after Hanna Lundkvist and Maya Le Tissier’s strikes in the first leg.
Duel in midfield and wide areas could be fascinating
Backing the over 2.5 goals option at 1.48 is logical enough given both sides’ attacking power and the fact that set pieces and late drama look likely again. United’s Fridolina Rolfö can be a handful in the air and on the break while Jess Park’s WSL form and overall quality could see her unlock the Bayern defense.
Bayern’s Pernille Harder, who scored two in the first leg and is the Bundesliga’s leading scorer, is the obvious choice for an anytime goal but Klara Bühl is also a contender, given her form and influence in the Bundesliga and Europe this term.
Bayern are odds-on favorites to win this clash at 1.51 while United are 5.6 outsiders with a draw priced at 4.35. The hosts are rightly clear favourites as they have won all three of the previous meetings between these clubs - including a pre-season friendly, the World Sevens final and the match in Manchester.
Betting angles make both teams look like goals
They won that first leg 3-2 and are on such a hot streak that, despite United’s resolve, we are tipping them to progress to the last four.
Bayern are solid at the back where their two keepers, Mahmutovic and Grohs, have a league-best clean sheet record. Vanessa Gilles and Stine Ballisager are the solid heart of a defence that has conceded only six goals this term.
