Tigers looking to get teeth into NPL Women’s NSW finals chase
Gladesville Ravens will look to turn the tide in this Sunday's clash with Northern Tigers at Christie Park, where a win is a must for the hosts if they are to get out of the bottom half of the ladder.
Lauren Phelps' side have won two and lost three of their last five league matches, a run which has seen them slip to 13 points and a -10 goal difference after 13 games. Although they have beaten APIA Leichhardt and Macarthur Rams, they have conceded 28 goals in as many games.
In their last two home games, Gladesville were beaten 1-5 by Sydney Olympic and 0-3 by Bulls Academy, suggesting they have much work to do if they are to challenge the Tigers.
Ravens play a relatively structured game with one forward and lots of wide support. Breanna Buccini and Keiko Tanaka provide the leadership and structure at the back, while Annabelle Daczko and Keisha Allen provide creativity and width from midfield and the flanks. Leena Khamis is a veteran striker who can hold the ball up and bring others into play from up front.
Tigers have more goals in them
The Tigers, who sit just outside the top four on 19 points and a +3 goal difference, have been in sparkling form lately, particularly in attack, where Fin Geraghty's philosophy of getting on the ball and attacking at pace has produced some stunning results.
Northern Tigers have won three of their last five NPL Women's NSW matches, beating APIA Leichhardt 4-1 away from home in the most recent fixture, but two defeats have also kept them from making a major push for finals. Tanaye Morris is in top form for the Tigers, having scored two goals against APIA, and Beth Bernardi provides creativity and a real goal threat from deep. She scored a stunning volley from outside the box in their recent win and seems to have the Midas touch in the final third.
Recent games between these clubs have been close encounters, with the Tigers edging Gladesville 1-0 in March 2026, and the Ravens having won 1-0 away in July 2025. It could be another close run thing on Sunday, with Gladesville possessing the set-piece expertise to make the Tigers work for their win, but the odds are with Geraghty's side to snatch the spoils.
The Over 2.5 goals market is massively favoured at 1.42 for this game, and although Gladesville can be positive when on top, the Tigers are always looking to play a high-tempo, attack-first game. With the chance of showers at Christie Park, it could be a game that suits the away side, who will look to pin the hosts back with their pace and numbers in wide areas.
