- Inter have won 11 of their 14 home Serie A matches in 2025-2026, averaging 2.71 goals per game while conceding 0.86.
- Atalanta have won four, drawn five and lost four of their 13 away fixtures, conceding an average of 1.00 goals per match.
- Inter have won each of the last three head-to-head clashes and won 1-0 away to Atalanta in the previous Serie A meeting two months ago.
Palladino’s young Atalanta will challenge Inter
Inter lead Serie A after 28 matches with 67 points, but Atalanta are 21 points further back on 46 points after 28 games.
Cristian Chivu’s side have been much improved since the Romanian took charge in June 2025 and his 3-5-2 hybrid system has taken Inter to another level on the field.
The Nerazzuri play in a controlled tempo, with defenders dictating the pace of play and a compact midfield screen while the wing-backs provide cover at the back.
But, when Inter have possession, they’re just as good as anyone in Europe at hitting suddenly and with pace through the front two.
Lautaro Martinez is the talisman, having scored 14 goals in 25 Serie A appearances, and Chivu’s tweaks over the last few months have made Inter more patient and solid at the back in the big matches.
Atalanta, under young boss Raffaele Palladino, have retained a high-pressing, attacking style of play since he took over in November 2025, although the new players and the freedom they are given to express themselves has led to some more fluidity.
The 3-4-1-2 system means that Teun Koopmeiners is always the engine room, driving the tempo and providing some of the creativity in the final third.
Gianluca Scamacca is his target man and leading goalscorer with eight in 19 Serie A games, but the ex-West Ham man has a long way to go to emulate Lautaro.
Atalanta are on a run of two consecutive draws and will be pleased to be getting some points on the board, but a lack of clinical edge has been their downfall recently.
They have two wins, two draws and a defeat from their last five and will need a big performance to get a result on Saturday night.
Inter’s home form to tip the balance
A big game is expected here as Inter’s measured build-up meets Atalanta’s frantic pressing and high risk-to-return style of football.
The game will likely be decided by wing-back play and who can control the tempo.
Inter have won both of their last two home games to nil and their disciplined defending, which is always led by the structured back three and solid midfield screen, makes us think a clean sheet could be on the cards - odds for both teams not to score are currently 1.94.
Atalanta have failed to win in their last two away trips to Inter and with the hosts winning 11 of their 14 at home we think they can get another three points at 1.59.
