Inter to make the most of Cagliari’s generosity
The Serie A leaders, Inter, will be looking to maintain their form when they host 16th placed Cagliari on Friday. The visitors have just 33 points from 32 games in 2025-2026 and are fighting to avoid relegation.
Cristian Chivu, who took the reins at Inter in June 2025, has brought an element of tactical discipline and attacking verve to the Milan club that has seen them soar to the summit of Serie A after 32 games. Their 75-point haul looks like a remarkable success this season, while Inter have won 12, drawn two and lost just two of their 16 Serie A home games to date, turning the San Siro into a fortress.
Cagliari, who have lost their last two away games in Serie A, look to be in real danger of being relegated after picking up just three wins, five draws and eight losses from their 16 Serie A road games this term.
Tactical matchup to be fascinating
Fabio Pisacane has done a solid job since taking over in June 2025, attempting to get Cagliari to keep it tight and stay compact in a narrow block and strike on the counter. Inter, on the other hand, will stretch the field with their wing-backs and look to dominate the ball and create chances through their high press and vertical passing.
Lautaro Martinez has been Inter’s danger man this term with 16 Serie A goals in 26 appearances, making him Inter's leading scorer. Cagliari have scored just 16 goals in 16 away Serie A fixtures, an average of 1.00 per-game, while Sebastiano Esposito has hit six goals in 30 league appearances and is Cagliari’s top scorer with three of his team’s last four goals.
Inter should control the proceedings, but Cagliari will strike on the break and should get opportunities to score, making over 2.5 goals and both teams to score look solid selections at around the 1.57 and 2.2 marks, respectively. The home side should take all three points, however, so we’ll take Inter for the win at a shade of odds on.
