- Inter are on a two-game winning streak, following a 5-2 home win over Roma and 4-3 away win over Como.
- Cagliari have lost four of their last five Serie A matches, winning just one of that run.
- Inter have won the last three head-to-heads, including a 2-0 away win in Serie A six months ago.
Inter dominate Cagliari at home
Inter have been the class of Serie A in 2025-2026, and it will take a monumental effort for Cagliari to spring a surprise in Friday’s fixture at San Siro. The hosts sit top of the pile on 75 points from 32 games, but they have been wobbling recently, recording two wins, two draws and one defeat from their last five.
Cristian Chivu has done a remarkable job since taking charge of Inter in June 2025, instilling tactical discipline and attacking flair into a team that have set the pace at the top of the table. Inter’s 3-5-2 system relies on the wing-backs to provide width. They have also been prolific in terms of possession, as their rapid transitions and vertical play have allowed them to score.
Cagliari, meanwhile, have sat back and allowed Inter to have the ball, and have tried to frustrate them with a narrow, compact shape. They have relied on counter attacks for much of the campaign, but their away form has been poor, with three wins, five draws and eight losses from 16 Serie A games. Fabio Pisacane has done a decent job since joining Cagliari in June 2025, keeping them competitive for much of the season, but they need to improve if they are to avoid a relegation scrap.
Back Inter to edge out a vital three points
Cagliari have only scored 16 goals in their 16 Serie A away games this season, averaging a measly 1.00 goals per game. Inter, on the other hand, have scored 44 times at San Siro, averaging an impressive 2.75 per game.
Lautaro Martinez remains Inter’s main goal threat, leading Inter’s scoring with 16 goals in 26 Serie A appearances, while Sebastiano Esposito is Cagliari’s greatest hope, with 6 Serie A goals in 30 appearances. Esposito has scored 3 of Cagliari’s last 4 goals, and they will look to him for counter-attack opportunities, but Inter should have too much.
An entertaining affair expected
We’re backing Inter to dominate and get the win in this game, but Cagliari have enough quality to make a mark on proceedings. They should be able to keep the game competitive, even if they eventually fall short. Inter are unbeaten in their last two home games, a win and a draw, but Cagliari are without a win in their last two away games, losing both.
Inter to win and both teams to score, then, seems a solid choice, with Both Teams to Score at 6/5, while Over 2.5 goals is a solid price at 57/100, and we’re also going for Inter to continue their brilliant run at 19/100.
