Argentina are the dominant force in the world at the moment and can dominate Jordan in a Group J fixture at the FIFA World Cup 2026 at Dallas Stadium on Sunday.
Lionel Scaloni has maintained the same basic principles since taking over the Argentina helm in 2018 and they have begun their latest World Cup bid in dominant fashion with three points at the top of Group J.
Jordan sit third after one defeat and they have their work cut out for them at Dallas Stadium, where the Albiceleste should have enough quality to break down their deep-lying 4-5-1 or 3-4-3 system.
Scaloni's system should see off Jordanians
Scaloni's 4-3-3 team has plenty of overloading and inverted full-backs to work with, but his ace in the hole is Lionel Messi, who can go anywhere on the pitch to unlock the most compact of defensive blocks.
His form is scintillating with three goals in Argentina's opening game and five in his last five appearances. He will be well supported in Texas by the likes of Nico Gonzalez, who showed some excellent vision.
There is no corresponding creative quality for Jordan, whose forward Ali Iyad Olwan scored their only goal of the tournament so far.
Noor Al-Rawabdeh provided their only assist in their opening group game and provides their only hope of unlocking Argentina's defence, but is hardly in the same class as La Pulga.
Jordan are outmatched
New Jordan manager Jamal Sellami - this is his biggest test to date. He will set his side up to be compact, with their pace up front on counter attacks to hurt teams if they do manage to break the deadlock.
But Argentina are rampant and have scored 14 goals in their last five matches, so the value in this game is surely to be found in the 'Both teams to score - No' market at 1.59 given how well Argentina can control the game and how limited Jordan are in attack. Argentina are too short at around 1.21 to justify the odds for a win, although they will probably win this by a comfortable margin, given Jordan are without a victory in five.
