- Recent form: Argentina have won 5 consecutive games, scoring 14 goals in that run.
- Players to watch: Lionel Messi has scored 3 goals in his first World Cup game and 5 goals in his last 5 games.
- Odds: Argentina are the massive 1.21 favorites to win this match.
Argentina in good form
Argentina currently top Group J in the 2026 FIFA World Cup with 3 points after beating Algeria 3-0 in their opener. Lionel Scaloni has maintained a strong tactical continuity since taking over in 2018 and Argentina have started their World Cup campaign with a bang.
The Albiceleste set up in their usual 4-3-3 system against Algeria, overwhelming their opponents in possession and creating an overload in the center of the pitch. Argentina's full backs were inverted and Lionel Messi was given free license to drift and create openings and space for his teammates to exploit.
Argentina will look to do the same again on Sunday and we're expecting a similar performance against Jordan. Argentina are the 1.21 favorites and simply cannot be opposed here. Lionel Messi is in sensational form and has scored 5 in his last 5 appearances and if he gets even half a chance on Sunday, he will score again.
Jordan look to make a mark
Tactics and setup
Jordan sit third in Group J after a 1-0 defeat to Argentina in their opening game. New manager Jamal Sellami has been in charge and this will be his toughest test yet. Jordan will set up in either a 4-5-1 or 3-4-3 system and will look to remain compact and disciplined in defense, while their pacy frontline will make the transitions work on the counter.
Form and key players
Jordan have been in poor form recently with 3 consecutive defeats in all competitions following back-to-back defeats to Colombia and Austria. Jordan's away form remains a concern and Sellami will need to ensure his team are organised and resilient if they are to have a chance of causing an upset in this clash.
If they are to cause Argentina any issues they will need to get Al-Rawabdeh involved as often as possible.
- Jordan have scored just 1 goal in their World Cup group stage so far but have managed to keep up for the most part.
- Their only goal was scored by striker Ali Iyad Olwan and with the striker being Jordan's only real outlet up front, he will be the focal point of their attack once more.
- Noor Al-Rawabdeh was Jordan's best player by far in their last game and created their only shot on goal with an assist.
Argentina to dominate
Argentina are in rampant form, Jordan have looked out of their depth at this stage and are not in good recent form. The tempo and pressing of Argentina will be the main factor in this game and it's difficult to see a Jordan side, who are short on quality and creativity, keeping up with the South American giants.
The BTTS – No market looks very favorable at 1.59 considering Argentina are playing in a similar way to before and are simply destroying teams. It's unlikely that Jordan will be able to score and we're going for Argentina to win with a shutout.
Nico Gonzalez can add that extra bit of creativity in the attacking third and he picked up an assist in Argentina's first group game.
