- Maitland FC Reserves are clear favourites for the Northern NSW Reserve League 2026 clash at 1.38, while Kahibah Reserves are 5.85.
- Kahibah Reserves come into Sunday's game in mixed to poor form after losing 2-1 to Adamstown Rosebuds Reserves last week, but they had beaten Charleston City Blues Reserves 4-1 the week before.
- Maitland Reserves are in strong form, playing with confidence and control, and they've got the psychological edge over Kahibah after battering them 4-0 in the Hahn Australia Cup prelim on 10 June 2026.
Kahibah have the momentum but Maitland should have the edge
Kahibah's defence has been porous all season and has conceded 54 goals in 15 games, so there will be no shortage of chances for Braedyn Crowley, Daniel McFarlane and Angus Muddle to get on the scoresheet for the visitors. Blair Newham's side are built on structure and a compact low block and have to work hard to steal chances in transition and on set pieces, so the clash of styles may favour Maitland if they can pin Kahibah deep enough to create errors.
Adam Hughes' Maitland team is a bit more possession-based and proactive, pressing higher up the field and moving the ball with a bit more speed when they get it. The Magpies are having a great season and are priced up as clear favourites to win this one, so we have to think pretty carefully about the potential value on the other side. Kahibah do have a proven goal-scorer and leader in Turnbull, but Maitland have Crowley, who is on a great run and was on fire in the 4-0 cup win, so the odds are set with all the information at hand.
Over 2.5 goals is a solid play
The Magpies are clearly the superior side and should win this game, but the odds reflect the size of the gap between these teams, which is shown in the 6th-placed Magpies 22 points from 16 games compared to the 12th-placed Kahibah's 11 points from 15. Maitland have a goal difference of +5 in the Northern NSW Reserves League while Kahibah are at -30, so Over 2.5 goals at 1.28 and Both Teams To Score - Yes at 1.43 are the right plays.
A 2-0 Maitland result suits the form, the table and the head-to-head (split at 1-1 in 2026 with Maitland having outscored Kahibah 5-2) better than any other outcome, but there are enough variables in this fixture for us to look at other options on the BTTS and goals markets. The 10 June cup clash is a big factor, however, and McFarlane and Muddle, who both got on the scoreboard that day, add a little more punch to the Maitland line up than most other games.
