- Napoli have won four of their last five Serie A games (D1).
- Lazio have won one and lost one of their last two away Serie A matches.
Two contrasting approaches to football face off
Two very different approaches to the game will be on display when Antonio Conte’s Napoli face Maurizio Sarri’s Lazio in Serie A on Saturday and the clash will test both men’s contrasting philosophies to the limit.
Conte is a master of direct, flexible and high-energy tactics that make Napoli one of the most compact and dangerous sides in Serie A. His teams are relentlessly episodic, where pressing is intense and transitions are quick. Napoli’s wing-backs have been a big part of his system, creating overloads in wide areas and then hitting on the counter-attack.
His side sit second in Serie A on 66 points from 32 games, 22 points ahead of Lazio in ninth, but with only six games left to play, it is all to play for.
Lazio have a record of holding Napoli at home
Lazio have won two, drawn two and lost just one of the last five Serie A head-to-head matches, but they are coming off a mixed run of three wins, a draw and a defeat from their last five. Sarri has created a possession-based philosophy since joining in June 2025, but has tweaked it with pragmatic ideas of his own.
His side are very organised and patient on the ball, rotating positions to find the best angle and creating overloads to draw the opposition out of position. His team are solid on the road, conceding only 12 goals in 16 away fixtures and averaging just 0.75 per away trip.
Sarri’s side can keep things tight
Lazio’s recent form depends on how you look at it, but Gustav Isaksen’s four goals in 26 Serie A appearances is a poor return from their top scorer. However, Kenneth Taylor has been in form lately with two goals in their last five matches, contributing to a third of their last six goals.
Rasmus Hoejlund is the main man up front for Napoli with 10 Serie A goals from 27 games, making him a constant threat up front. His team are unbeaten in Serie A at home with 11 wins and four draws from 15 matches, conceding just 13 goals in the process.
Conte’s side can edge a tight game
Napoli are the favourites at 1.55 and rightly so given their form and home advantage, but our main play will be on ‘Both teams to score - No’ at 1.62 as a clean sheet for the home side is almost a given and goals will be hard to come by.
Napoli have won all three of their last home games in Serie A and we are going to take them to edge this tight fixture with a score prediction of Under 2.5 goals at 1.65. Conte’s men have the physical edge, transition speed and home ground advantage to test Lazio’s defensive organisation one step further than most teams in the division.
