- Strasbourg have won eight, drawn three and lost four of their 15 Ligue 1 home fixtures.
- Toulouse have won just five of their 15 away fixtures in Ligue 1 this season, losing eight.
- Strasbourg’s Joaquin Panichelli has 16 Ligue 1 goals in 27 appearances this term, while Toulouse’s top scorer is Yann Gboho with eight in 29.
Ligue 1’s most contrasting styles clash in Strasbourg
Strasbourg and Toulouse’s contrasting styles are likely to ensure a compelling contest on Sunday and the visitors could find their rhythm at the Stade de la Meinau.
Racing Club Strasbourg sit eighth in Ligue 1 with 46 points from 30 games, which has been a solid, if unspectacular, season for Le Racing. Gary O’Neil, who took over the reins in January 2026, has honed the end-product of their attacking players and they have developed a reputation as a club that can press the ball with energy and quality in the final third.
Last weekend, they beat FC Lorient 3-2 away from home in the league, although were then brought down to earth with a 2-0 home defeat to OGC Nice in the Coupe de France on Thursday.
Toulouse’s possession-based system can be effective
FC Toulouse, in contrast, are a team that prefers to play the ball in a more patient, possession-based manner in which they control the tempo and press in waves. Carles Martinez has developed a progressive system that he’s stuck to since taking over at FC Toulouse in July 2023, but the results have not always followed.
The visitors are 10th in the table with 38 points from 31 matches, eight fewer than Strasbourg, and in their last five games in all competitions, they have drawn one, lost four and won none. Last weekend they drew 2-2 at home to AS Monaco in Ligue 1 before falling to a 4-1 defeat at RC Lens in the French Cup in midweek.
Emersonn has chipped in with two goals in Toulouse’s last five matches, so their top scorer will have to show more of a scoring knack to compensate for their current struggle to convert possession into results.
Home win the likeliest outcome
This game has all the hallmarks of a classic contest between two sides at opposite ends of the spectrum in terms of their tactics, so it’s one that scouts and coaches will want to watch in detail to see if Strasbourg can press with enough intensity to disrupt Toulouse’s rhythm and how the Violets respond when the Racing side get the ball.
Our view is that the home team, with their more ruthless end-product and sharpness in the attacking third, will come out on top in this one. Toulouse have lost their last three away games and have failed to win on their previous two trips to Strasbourg.
The correct score prediction of a 2-0 home win is based on Strasbourg scoring an average of 1.60 goals per game at home and conceding only 0.87. They should be able to keep Toulouse at bay at the back and, given Toulouse’s away struggles this season, the Both Teams to Score - No bet looks a good way to cover the odds-on price.
