- Strasbourg have won eight, drawn three and lost four of 15 home matches in Ligue 1 this season.
- Toulouse have won just five and lost eight of their 15 away fixtures in Ligue 1 this campaign.
- Toulouse have failed to win on their last two visits to Strasbourg.
Patience vs. Pressure at Stade de la Meinau
An intriguing contrast of styles will be on display at the Stade de la Meinau on Sunday when high-pressing Racing Club Strasbourg take on patient and possession-driven FC Toulouse in Ligue 1.
Gary O’Neil has been in charge of the Strasbourg club since January 2026, and has already made his mark on the team by re-focusing their energy and intensity on transition play and pinching the ball back in the opposition half.
He is not an easy manager to pigeonhole, but his tweaks to the Strasbourg style have produced a team that is consistently sharp at the front, adaptable to game flow and able to break teams down with a mix of clinicality and chaos.
Joaquin Panichelli is his ace in the hole, and he is not just Strasbourg’s top scorer in Ligue 1 this term with 16 goals in 27 games, but also a finisher who will keep the team in games.
Toulouse will line-up against Strasbourg in the hope of nullifying his effect, however, as Carles Martinez’s side are possession first, patient and progressive, focusing on circulating the ball, developing youth and maintaining a controlled system.
He has done a good job with a limited squad at Toulouse since taking over in July 2023, but they have not converted enough possession into wins in the last few months, with their 2-2 home draw against AS Monaco in Ligue 1 followed by a 4-1 away defeat to RC Lens in the Coupe de France.
Toulouse too thin in attack
Toulouse now sit 10th in Ligue 1 with 38 points from 31 games, eight fewer than eighth-placed Strasbourg, who have been a model of consistency this season, although they have had their off days lately.
Strasbourg beat FC Lorient 3-2 away in their last Ligue 1 game, but lost 2-0 at home to OGC Nice in the previous round of the Coupe de France.
O’Neil’s side have won two and lost three of their last five in all competitions, but have won eight of their 15 home league matches, so we are taking them to win this one at a shade of odds-on.
Toulouse have struggled away from home
A home win looks the best bet to us because Toulouse have won 5 of their 15 away games, losing 8 of those, and Martinez’s men have conceded 21 goals in 15 Ligue 1 away fixtures this term.
Emersonn has been in decent form, with two goals in his last five for Toulouse, and Yann Gboho has been their main attacking outlet this year with eight goals in 29 Ligue 1 games, but the visitors should lack the penetration to score on Sunday.
Strasbourg have scored an average of 1.60 goals per home game in Ligue 1 this year, but have only conceded 0.87, so we are also taking the Both Teams to Score - No bet, which looks good to us at 117/100.
