- Werder Bremen sit 14th in the Bundesliga table with 28 points from their first 27 games.
- RB Leipzig are fourth in the table on 50 points after 27 games and in good form with three wins, one draw and just one defeat from their last five.
- Bremen have won one and lost one of their last two Bundesliga home games.
Bremen will be in for a tough game
Werder Bremen should be in for a challenging game against an RB Leipzig side that are in good current form and have a fine away record in the Bundesliga.
Ole Werner’s team have been a force to be reckoned with since he took over as head coach in July 2025, developing an exciting attacking identity based around high pressing and a 4-3-3 system that creates plenty of opportunities when it gets rolling.
Christoph Baumgartner is Leipzig’s main man up front with 12 Bundesliga goals in 26 appearances this term, but he has been in a purple patch recently, netting four of their last 10 goals in the previous five.
Bremen are fighting to survive
They were 1-0 down from their previous away game at Stuttgart, but hit back in emphatic fashion with a 5-0 win over Hoffenheim at home last weekend. With Leipzig in the European mix, they will be going for the win in Bremen on Saturday.
Daniel Thioune took charge of Werder Bremen in February 2026 and has introduced a much more pragmatic style of play that seems to be keeping the ship afloat in the fight for survival.
They set up in a compact back five and don’t take many risks, preferring to frustrate the opposition and counter swiftly when space opens up.
Jens Stage is their top scorer with 7 Bundesliga goals in 24 games and he is usually the catalyst for any forward play in their low-block system.
Leipzig likely to have the edge
Werder have won three and lost two of their last five in the Bundesliga, so form is mixed, but they have conceded plenty of goals (23 in 13) at home (Won 4, Drawn 4, Lost 5).
Leipzig’s away record this term is six wins, three draws and four defeats with 17 conceded in 13, which is a rate of 1.31 per game.
Their recent head-to-head record is one win and one draw with no victories for the home side. Leipzig won the last meeting, at home 2-0, four months ago and we expect another away win here at 1.97.
It should be a high-scoring game, however, with odds of 1.5 for over 2.5 goals and 1.45 for both teams to score offering little value. It should be a chess match, Leipzig will press and move the ball vertically while Bremen will sit deep and defend. It will be a test of nerve and, most likely, Leipzig’s firepower will win it.
