- This is a meeting of two MLS 2026 strugglers with Colorado Rapids placed 20th and San Diego FC 19th.
- The Rapids have 2 wins and 3 losses in their last five games and have scored five goals across their last five matches.
- San Diego FC are also in mixed form with one win, three draws and one defeat across their last five games.
Colorado can come up for air
This is the most intriguing of the four MLS 2026 matches on Thursday's schedule and, although Colorado Rapids have been struggling and are only 117/100 favourites to beat San Diego FC at 107/50, there could well be some goal action at Dick's Sporting Goods Park.
The two teams are in very similar form with the hosts taking two wins and three defeats from their last five matches while the visitors have one win, three draws and a defeat across their most recent five.
The last time these two met was in USA MLS 2025 with San Diego FC coming away with a 2-0 win, but the last two games are evened up at 1-1 with no draws.
San Diego have lost away to Colorado
Rapids boss Matt Wells has been in charge since 23 December 2025 and his pressing 4-3-3 side, which is designed to hunt turnovers and vertical breaks, can unsettle possession-based teams like San Diego.
Mikey Varas has had a little longer to build his team at San Diego since 18 September 2024 and his side build patiently from the back, probing through midfield, before letting their wide players or number 10 run into the box.
It's a classic clash of press vs possession and it will be interesting to see if Colorado's energy and aggression can take the game away from San Diego.
Goals look likely
The hosts come into the game with 16 points from 15 games while the away side have 17 from the same number of fixtures, so this is a tight Western Conference scrap.
That may not mean much, but the odds and the nature of the match-up suggest it will be a close game that Colorado can edge. The BTTS-Yes line at 37/100 looks a bit low and Over 2.5 goals at 19/50 is on the short side, but it should be a lively night at altitude.
San Diego's leading scorer Marcus Ingvartsen has 11 goals in 15 MLS 2026 appearances and has six in the team's last five.
Rapids' leading goal-getter Rafael Navarro also has six to his name in 15 appearances and has two of Colorado's five goals in their last five so both men can land at any time.
Dreyer has four assists in San Diego's last five so he's worth a look to tee up a goal for his team in this clash of MLS 2026 strugglers.
