England out to maintain Group L lead
Ghana will provide the stiffest test yet for England and their new manager Thomas Tuchel when they face off in what looks a classic press vs counter clash at Boston Stadium.
The Three Lions are the heavy favourites here at 11/50 to take the 3 points and perhaps rightly so, given they've picked up the pace since the appointment of Tuchel in January 2025 and currently top Group L after their 4-2 thumping of Croatia in the opening game. Ghana also have 3 points on the board and trail England on goal difference after their 1-0 win over Panama.
Carlos Queiroz took charge of Ghana in April 2026 and has made his mark by making them a disciplined team that can sit in and be difficult to break down. They also have the speed to counter and an air of danger about them when the ball arrives in wide areas that can cause problems for defences. Ghana's best player, Caleb Yirenkyi, scored the winner against Panama and has 2 of the Black Stars last 4 goals in all competitions.
Queiroz has given Ghana a new identity
Queiroz's side are a well organised and difficult to beat but they rarely win away, failing to claim a victory in their last 4 matches on the road. They do have the pace and penetration to pose problems for Tuchel's England on the counter, but I feel the Three Lions are in a strong position to claim the 3 points.
England have won 3 in a row heading into Tuesday's game, including consecutive clean sheets against New Zealand and Costa Rica in their World Cup warm-up friendlies. Tuchel's side press high, adapt easily in terms of system and can switch play very quickly through the centre and channels.
In Phil Foden, England have the creativity to unlock compact defences and the pacy Bukayo Saka to stretch the play on either side. Backing England to win and over 2.5 goals at 7/10 looks a good shout with England in red-hot form and Ghana in inconsistent form, while Harry Kane is a clear standout for the anytime goalscorer market, with 3 of the last 9 goals scored by England.
