Hearts have the killer instinct to edge a clash of styles
Hearts (W) appear to be the right side to have a go at taking the game to FC Gintra (W) in Wednesday's UEFA Women's Champions League Qualification 2026-2027 tie as Andy Thomson's side bring the momentum of a brilliant end of season.
The Jambos recorded a 0-0 draw at Glasgow City, a 2-1 win at Celtic and a 1-0 away win at Glasgow City. In those final three games, Hearts' ruthless form was evident with the 2-1 result at Celtic sandwiched by 0-0 and 1-0 victories. Celtic were smashed 4-1 by Hearts, who also beat Partick Thistle 3-0 to make their European qualification a matter of record.
Thomson has inherited a positive, attacking group of players and there's no reason to try to change that. Monica Forsyth will provide energy, width and delivery from wing-back or midfield, while Lauren Wade and Georgia Timms have the ability to pop up with goals and make the runs into the box.

Captain Algimantė Mikutaitė is the defensive anchor and dressing-room leader, crucial for keeping the back line switched on under pressure. Gintra's forward options include Meida Proscevičiūtė, Lidiane Ribeiro and Kiyani Johnson - a trio that can blow teams away on their day.

Hearts are favourites and the market looks right to have them as such at 7/20 as Gintra are 51/10 and may get caught out by the occasion. The draw is marked up at 19/5, which looks way too big as this has the feel of a mini-final with a place in the next round of the UWCL up for grabs.
The clash of width vs central overloads makes this a game that could be cagey in the early stages while the sides test each other. But the 17/50 line on over 2.5 goals looks far too low and the 13/25 line on both teams to score has similar issues - so we are going for goals in a 1-1-type game that Hearts ought to have just enough to edge.
