In a battle of styles, Ferencvarosi could be the sharper side
Ferencvarosi TC (W) and FC PAOK Thessaloniki (W) have never met in a competitive fixture so there is no head-to-head record to guide us ahead of Wednesday's UEFA Women's Champions League Qualification 2026-2027 qualification tie. F. Albert's Hungarian side are the bookies favourites, at 87/100 ahead of the visitors at 2/1, with the draw listed at 13/4.
Ferencvaros are a wide, high-tempo and attack-first unit with plenty of firepower going forward, while PAOK are a more direct and vertical unit that aim to overload the flanks and get numbers forward in transition.
This could be a classic clash of styles with Ferencvaros looking to press PAOK and PAOK looking to punish Ferencvaros when they win the ball back in wide areas. Albert's side will look to Vanessza Nagy, one of their most prolific players during the 2025-26 domestic campaign, to find the goal.
PAOK will punish Ferencvaros if they get a goal
Kostas Konstantinidis' side are a more balanced team on paper, with a solid spine and a few good attackers that can make things happen, such as Minela Gatsanitza, who was among the Greek A' elite with 23 goals in 2025-26.
Although Ferencváros appear to be the more prolific side, PAOK have had a more spread-out goal-scoring record in their qualifying matches in 2026. The visitors are unbeaten in the mini-tournament in July, coming through with 3-1 and 3-0 wins, while Ferencváros have been in strong form in their domestic campaign in the late-2025-26.
This has the feel of a close, cagey qualifier, but Ferencváros have the home advantage and have been the more high-scoring side of late, so we'll take them to edge out the semi-final. The draw at 13/4 is a big price but seems to represent a bit of a steal here if the Hungarians are the favourite for a reason. Under 2.5 goals is another angle to take, coming in at 11/10, as it may take a while for either team to get the first goal and make an impact in the heat of Budapest.
