- Fleetwood Town have won four of the last five meetings between these two sides, with the last clash five months ago ending in a 2-1 win for Milton Keynes Dons at home.
- Milton Keynes Dons FC have won 11 of their 22 away league games this season (D7, L4).
- MK Dons have won three consecutive League Two games, including a 3-0 win over Tranmere Rovers and a 3-1 victory at Crewe Alexandra.
MK Dons are the Dons of League Two
Milton Keynes Dons FC are the dominant force in League Two this season with 85 points from their 45 matches to date, although they have failed to win in their previous two trips to Fleetwood Town.
Fleetwood Town have struggled a little at the start of 2026, winning one, drawing two and losing two of their last five League Two fixtures and sitting 15th in the standings with 60 points from 45 matches.
But MK Dons are flying and have won their last three straight games, including a 3-0 victory over Tranmere Rovers at Stadium MK and a 3-1 away win at Crewe Alexandra. The Dons haven’t lost in their last five matches (W3, D2) and are currently top of the table.
Warne’s tactics have made MK Dons the class of the division
Paul Warne’s decision to press high, play with great intensity in the transitions and utilise a flexible 4-3-3 system with two wide players capable of cutting inside and stretching play has made his MK Dons a force to be reckoned with in League Two.
In contrast, Matt Lawlor has been the stabilising influence Fleetwood needed in early 2026, bringing structure, discipline and a no-nonsense approach to the club since taking the reins in January. He has no Callum Paterson to help his cause, however, as the Dons midfielder has been a revelation for Warne’s side, netting 15 goals in 35 League Two appearances.
Fleetwood are not a high-scoring team and have only won eight of their 22 home games this term (D8, L6). They have scored an average of 1.50 goals per game at home with Ethan Ennis their creative outlet of late, providing three assists in his last five appearances. Helm is the top goalscorer on 10 and has two in the last five.
Dons are a step up for Fleetwood
Fleetwood Town are a good side, but they are not in the same class as MK Dons, who have averaged 2.00 goals per away game while only conceding 1.09 goals on their travels. The odds of 22/25 for an away win look short but that is because MK Dons are the clear favourites and have been the best team in the division.
Fleetwood have failed to win any of their last two home matches, and they drew 2-2 at Shrewsbury Town last time out, so they might well settle for a point in this one given the firepower and form of the visitors. We’re not expecting a walkover, however, and with odds of 43/50 for over 2.5 goals and BTTS at 73/100, this looks like an open, end-to-end contest with goals at both ends of the pitch and a probable MK Dons win at full-time.
