Frosinone have momentum and more quality
Frosinone are clear favourites for Sunday's Coppa Italia 2026-2027 tie against Serie B side Juve Stabia at 7/10, while Juve Stabia are 18/5 and the draw is 14/5.
Massimiliano Alvini's side look the right team to edge a competitive tie, but there is also a case for the underdog, Le Vespe, to nick something from the game in a tight script.
Frosinone's form is good and they were a dominant Serie B force on their way to promotion in 2025-26, finishing with a 5-0 hammering of Mantova. They started the 2026-27 preseason with a win at Ascoli, but followed up with a 1-1 draw at a lower-division Sambenedettese and a 1-2 defeat to Lazio.
Juve Stabia's preseason record is also mixed and they have much to sort out under new coach Pietro De Giorgio, who seems to be favouring a more direct style of play than Juve had last season, which could be 4-3-3 rather than 3-5-2 or 3-4-1-2.
Frosinone can get the upper hand
Frosinone's recent domination of the head-to-head contests suggests Alvini's team are the team most likely to edge the tie on Sunday if the match flows in the usual way. They have more quality and momentum behind them while Juve have come through a transition period in preseason and made a few fresh signings to go with their new coach.
Farès Ghedjemis is the most dangerous Frosinone player after he scored in double figures for the giallazzurri in 2025-26, so stopping the Algerian international will be Juve's top priority. Leonardo Candellone will be a threat for Le Vespe in the penalty area, particularly if Frosinone get stretched on the counter-attack late in the game.
Frosinone are a high-intensity side, built on a pressing style and quick vertical transitions that play to their wide players and forward three. The hosts should be able to control this matchup at home, although Juve will look to find opportunities in transition.
Tight cup tie should suit under 2.5 goals
Pietro De Giorgio's side will be compact and pragmatic, but should be a bit more direct with quick transitions than they were last season. Florian Grillitsch and Romano Schmid should be a big step up on last year's midfield for Frosinone in terms of control, creativity and service into the final third.
Nicola Mosti and Fabio Maistro are Juve Stabia's most likely creators in a game where the side that snatches a goal in the counter-attack or in transition looks more likely to create a surprise. Under 2.5 goals at 19/20 seems like a good fit for what will still be a tight Coppa Italia contest that Frosinone should edge.
