- St Mirren are in poor form with one win, one draw and three losses in their last five, losing their last three matches.
- Hearts have won three, drawn one and lost one of their last five and are currently placed third in the Premiership 2026/2027 with 13 points from seven games.
- Hearts have split the last five head-to-heads 2-2 with one draw, suggesting another cagey match could be on the cards.
Hearts’ hot streak to continue in Edinburgh
Hearts Of Midlothian FC prepare for Saturday on the back of a run of three wins, one draw and one loss in their last five, and Vrancken's side seem well poised to maintain their position at the top end of the Premiership 2026/2027 table with 13 points from their first seven games.
The Jambos have split the head-to-head with St Mirren 2-2 with a 1-1 draw in their previous meetings, but they will be wary of the Buddies who have some dangerous players on their squad.
Killian Phillips has been a revelation for the visitors in their first three games of the campaign, netting three in as many, and St Mirren may have to rely on his sharpness in transition as they attempt to upset the odds at Tynecastle.
Jambos can squeeze out a win against their fellow Paisley club
McLeish's men are in much worse form than Hearts coming into this clash as they've lost three consecutive games against Celtic, Rangers and Dundee United, to fall to fifth in the table with 10 points from their opening seven matches.
They've set up to be compact and pragmatic under McLeish with either three-at-the-back or a narrow 4-2-3-1/4-3-3 allowing them to maintain discipline and control their transitions from defence to attack.
They may not be the biggest team on paper, but they've won their two away games and have only conceded one goal in their three games on the road in the league.
Hearts' 23/50 price for the win seems a bit short considering both the quality of the two sides and the fact St Mirren are still in the hunt, and the Buddies' odds of 49/10 and the draw at 73/20 is just as eye-catching.
Buddies have the shape and a man to cause Jambos some concern
Hearts have been much more impressive so far, winning all three of their home games in the Prem and scoring eight goals in the process, making Tynecastle something of a fortress already.
Wouter Vrancken's side play a possession-based, high tempo style where they try to press their opponents at the right moments and will attempt to break St Mirren down.
James Wilson has been their main scorer in the final third with three goals in six Prem games, whilst Joshua McPake has been the creative hub with three assists in their last five.
But the Jambos v Buddies fixture has a long history of close matches and with St Mirren's set up likely to frustrate Hearts and try to pinch a goal on the counter, under 2.5 goals at 31/20 seems to fit this script nicely.
Hearts should win it, but they won't have it all their own way, so we're going for a low-scoring home victory in the correct score market.
