- Kettering are unbeaten in three at home (W2, D1), drawing their last two meetings at home against Halesowen Town FC.
- Halesowen Town FC have won seven, drawn six, and lost seven of their 20 away league fixtures.
- The hosts have scored 39 goals in their 20 home league games.
Play-off hopefuls’ clash looks a tight affair
Kettering Town FC sit fifth in the Southern League Premier Division Central standings with 68 points from 40 games, two points ahead of their opponents on Saturday, 6th-placed Halesowen Town FC, who they drew 1-1 with in the reverse fixture at the West Midlands club.
The hosts have the superior recent form with three wins, one draw and one defeat from their last five league games, while Halesowen have three wins and two defeats. Halesowen won 2-0 at Bromsgrove Sporting in their last away game, but stumbled at home when they were beaten 1-3 by Harborough Town FC.
Richard Lavery has added a sense of structure and pragmatism to the club since taking charge in February 2024, and his team have settled into a possession-based style that can alter between 4-2-3-1, 4-3-3 and a back-three system. Kettering will look to overload the wings and press high up the pitch on Saturday.
Halesowen are a direct, high-tempo unit, who relish getting on the flanks and getting the ball into the box quickly. Russ Penn’s men do a lot of work and it shows in their recent results and performances as they have the energy to transition quickly and a front three who can hurt any defence with their pace.
Panter is Kettering’s main goal threat
Edward Panter has scored four of Kettering’s last ten goals and brings a real focal point to their attack. Jason Cowley is the equivalent for Halesowen Town FC, matching Panter’s four goals in their last five, and the Yeltz’s front man is a clever finisher.
Kettering are 17/20 favourites to win this game against the Yeltz, who are 61/25, while the draw is 67/25. The bookmakers seem to like Kettering here, but we feel the psychological edge is with the visitors as the home side have failed to win in their last two against Halesowen Town FC.
The Yeltz are a good traveller and their record of 39 away goals scored in 20 games is a testament to their offensive quality. But we will take Kettering to edge this one because they are in a good rhythm at Latimer Park with two wins and a draw in their last three home games.
We will back over 2.5 goals at 57/100 as this should be an open fixture with chances for both teams. Kettering’s home record of 11 wins, five draws and four defeats is good enough to edge this clash, but Halesowen’s away scoring record suggests this will be no walk in the park for the home team.
