Stevenage can spring the upset
Leyton Orient are the slight favourites to win Saturday's League One 2026-2027 encounter at the BetWright Stadium at around 5/4, but the odds on The Boro to upset the apple cart at 43/20 are a tad on the generous side, given how these two teams have started the season and their recent away record.
The O's are 15th in League One with seven points from their opening six games, while Stevenage are 9th with nine points from their first six fixtures. It's too early to say that Orient are struggling but it's clear that they've made a mess of home duty this season, taking no draws and three defeats from their three League One fixtures at the Breyer Group Stadium.
The reverse fixture in League One 2025/2026 saw Orient edge out a 2-1 victory away from home, but The Boro have won two of their last three visits to Leyton and the head-to-head is level at 2-2 over the last five meetings.
Back The Boro to make waves
The Boro to spring an upset is our selection for this weekend's game at the 43/20 price and the odds do look about right when considering how these teams have performed on the road.
Stevenage are in good form, having won their last two and gone unbeaten in four of their last five in all competitions. The visitors arrive at the stadium in good spirits after a 5-1 mauling of Barnsley away and a 2-1 win at home to Luton in their most recent League One match.
Alex Revell has done a fantastic job since taking charge on 17th April 2024, keeping his team compact, aggressive, and ready to spring forward in numbers when the ball is won back.
This style of play should cause problems for Orient on Saturday as Richie Wellens likes to build his team around a possession-based 4-3-3 or 4-2-3-1 system. Orient like to play through the thirds and counter-press to get the ball back high up the pitch after losing possession, but if they are over-pressed or caught in transition, they can be exposed in midfield.
Stevenage can outplay Orient
Wellens has overseen Orient since 9th March 2022 and they are a decent side, but an inconsistency in performance has seen them take one win, one draw, and three defeats from their last five in all competitions.
A 1-1 draw away to Luton Town got their League One campaign off to a positive start, but a 1-3 home defeat to Bradford City in the EFL Cup and a 2-3 home loss to Wycombe Wanderers in League One put them on a two-game losing streak.
Jaze Kabia is Orient's danger man, top-scoring in League One with four goals in six games and having either scored or assisted in four of their last eight goals. Demetri Mitchell has been the creator, providing three assists in that run.
Dan Kemp is Stevenage's livewire, with three goals in six League One games and having scored three of The Boro's last eight. Backing Kemp to get on the scoresheet alongside under 2.5 goals at 67/100 looks the sharp alternative market for this one, as Stevenage are averaging 2.00 goals scored and 0.67 conceded per away game, while Orient are averaging 1.33 scored and 2.67 conceded at home. This should be close, but we're just giving The Boro the edge.
