Lincs’ long ball style
Lincoln City have already done enough to secure promotion in 2025-2026 and will be looking to continue their form with another victory on Saturday. Michael Skubala has created a structured, pressing side which are tactically well-drilled, controlling the tempo and winning games in a way which suits their strengths.
Lincs sit atop League One with 90 points from 41 matches, the best record in the division, and the form guide is on their side, with the Imps having won four and drawn one of their last five. Skubala’s men have particularly dominated at home, winning 16, drawing four, and losing just once in their 21 home matches. They have scored an average of 2.24 goals per game at home in League One, conceding just 0.76 per game.
The Imps have been solid in midfield, rotating players well and setting up pressing triggers. Jack Moylan is their talisman in attack, scoring nine goals in 26 League One appearances, but his contributions tend to be consistent rather than prolific. Orient will have to stifle his influence on Saturday, but Skubala’s team will be a much tougher test than any side the visitors have faced in recent months.
Orient will play on the counter
The visitors have little left to play for in the league this season, but they will no doubt welcome the chance to test themselves against the best side in the league. Richie Wellens has built a team capable of playing on the front foot, but they are better suited to sitting in and counter-attacking.
Orient will be desperate to exploit the wide areas of the pitch on Saturday, but Lincoln’s compact shape and well-planned pressing triggers will likely prevent them from doing so. Orient can be a tough watch at times, but Wellens’ men are adaptable and can counter with the pace they have available if Lincoln overcommit, but their intensity can ebb and flow depending on the situation.
Lincs will dominate
Leyton Orient are no pushovers, but Lincoln will be extremely difficult to beat on home soil, with the odds of 12/25 reflecting this. Orient have won six, drawn three, and lost 12 of their 21 away matches in League One this campaign, so they’re clearly more comfortable playing away.
Orient sit 15th in the league table with 50 points from 41 games, and they have won one and drawn two of their last three away matches. The last head-to-head ended 1-0 to Orient at home, five months ago in League One, but the O’s have failed to win in their two most recent trips to Lincoln.
Dominic Ballard to shine
Dominic Ballard has been in hot form recently, scoring three of Orient’s last six League One goals and is their most likely candidate to cause problems in Lincoln’s penalty box. Ballard is Orient’s talisman with 21 goals in 35 League One games, and they will look to him to capitalize in transition.
Lincoln average only 0.76 goals conceded per home game, but Orient have conceded 38 in 21 away, so look to the home side to win this one.
