Form sides meet in UEFA Europa League Qualification 2026
Omonia FC Nicosia are the 21/50 favourites to get the job done on Thursday in Gibraltar against 31/5 outsiders Lincoln Red Imps, who have a lot of work to do if they are to qualify against the visitors.
A draw is 69/20 but we think Omonia's superior away form and form in general will see them to victory, although Lincoln's home form should ensure it is not a comfortable win for the Cypriots.
Lincoln Red Imps have won two, drawn two and lost one of their last five in all competitions and they have five wins, three draws and two defeats in their ten-game overall record.
Omonia's last two UEFA Champions League Qualification 2026 outings saw them beat Kairat Almaty 1-0 at home before an away draw of the same score was followed by a 6-5 shoot-out loss for the visitors. Prior to that, Lincoln had drawn 1-1 away to Inter Club d'Escaldes and lost 3-0 to Mjallby AIF before a 0-0 draw at home to the Swedes.
Omonia are on a roll
Henning Berg's team are in top form at the moment with three wins, one draw and one defeat in their last five and have four wins and a defeat in their last five away from home.
They have eight wins in their last ten in all competitions and have travelled well in this competition so it is no surprise to see Omonia as the favourites.
But Berg's men are not playing their best footy at the moment and they will need to keep it tight against a talented Lincoln team.
Lincoln can make it tough
Juanma Pavon's men can set up a narrow back three or a compact 4-1-4-1, built around a midfield-first spine and capable of quick vertical breaks. They have good numbers to win second balls and are very good at set pieces.
Omonia's style is built around a 4-2-3-1 structure with tight lines, central overloads and full-backs who do not push forward to maintain the shape. Berg's side favour measured possession and have a controlled, measured approach to games where they look to funnel opponents wide and clog the channels.
Lincoln should be able to slow the game down, while Omonia like to control and shut down space between the lines. It should be an interesting contrast of structure versus chaos and we think Lincoln can keep it close at the very least.
Lincoln have conceded just one goal per game at home in all competitions, conceding just six in total, so they are tough to break down on their own patch. Omonia are more likely to win and it might be a tight one, so we're going for an Omonia victory at a shade of odds-on and Over 2.5 goals at 57/100, to just nudge the odds a little in the direction of a more open contest.
