Two sides with momentum to gain
The bookies have Cruz Azul as the narrow favourites for this Saturday's Liga MX 2026/2027 clash at Estadio Victoria, although they are on a losing streak and Necaxa, who have also been erratic lately, could be the smart bet at 11/4. The draw at 14/5 is also worthy of consideration, but our preferred punt will be on both teams to score at 1/2 and over 2.5 goals at 57/100 in a game where each team has something to play for.

Necaxa are 12th in Liga MX 2026-2027 with six points from four games, which is solid enough to be in the pack but they need something to get them going. Julian Carranza is their main man to watch as he has three goals in three Liga MX 2026/2027 appearances while Matias Espindola has chipped in with two in their last five.
No clear favourite
Cruz Azul arrive off the back of two straight defeats, losing 1-2 at home to Chicago Fire in the CONCACAF Leagues Cup before a 2-1 away defeat to a pretty solid Club Tijuana in Liga MX. They are 11th in the table, also with six points from four games, and this feels like a scrap for momentum rather than a game either team can really afford to lose.
Jose Paradela is Cruz Azul's top scorer with four goals in their last five and has been a constant threat. But Cruz Azul's manager Joel Huiqui has a few more weapons at his disposal, with Jeremy Marquez on two goals in four Liga MX 2026/2027 games and it is he who will be the biggest threat in the attacking third.
The way in which Martin Varini sets up Necaxa to play a 3-4-2-1 with lots of possession, territorial control and midfield overloads will clash with Huiqui's tactical flexibility that has structure and order at its core. That should make for an intriguing chess match, but Cruz Azul are in better shape to nick it so we will take the draw and BTTS as the smart punt.
