- Pumas are unbeaten in five Liga MX matches, winning three and drawing two.
- FC Juarez have won just one of their last five Liga MX games, drawing three and losing once.
- Pumas have scored in all five of their recent games and Juarez's defense has struggled to keep clean sheets.
Pumas are the pace-setters
Pumas UNAM sit near the top of the Liga MX 2025-2026 table with 27 points from 14 games and a +11 goal difference that reflects their consistency and attacking quality. Efraín Juárez’s side have been in great form in recent matches, blasting out a high-tempo, vertical style in which they press hard and use the pace of their wide players to overload the flanks.
Juárez are well organised, however, and set up in a compact, well-disciplined block to frustrate opponents and then unleash the direct running of Óscar Estupiñán on the break.
It’s a battle of styles and the side that gets the first goal could be in the driver’s seat in Wednesday’s encounter, although Pumas look the more likely to get it. The bookmakers have this contest down as a ‘home banker’ with odds of 17/20 on the home side and 143/50 on the visitors, so there may be value in the ‘Both teams to score - No’ market at 57/50.
Juárez are set to get frustrated
Keylor Navas, the experienced goalkeeper, has been a calming influence in the home defense this season, while the likes of Juninho, Guillermo Martínez and Robert Morales have given Pumas plenty of attacking depth.
It’s Juninho who has provided the outlet for this team in the Clausura campaign, providing goals and assists aplenty while Martínez has also been a scoring threat of late. Morales is in good form and netted in their 3-1 victory over Mazatlan, which was followed by a dogged 1-0 win over Club America at the Estadio Azteca in recent weeks.
Pedro Caixinha’s Juárez have been a tough nut to crack this season, but have rarely taken all three points and remain stuck in the lower mid-table with 16 points from 14 matches. They have a -3 goal difference, which reflects the problems they have had at both ends of the field.
Estupiñán is the main threat for visitors
Guilherme Castilho and Madson can provide a creative spark and the odd goal, but Juárez have lacked consistency. Estupiñán, the leading scorer on their charts, is their main outlet and the focal point of their attacks, as well as the main man on set pieces.
Pumas are the stronger side on recent form and will want to maintain their position near the top of the table with a win on Wednesday, while Juárez desperately need the points to move up the standings.
The Braves de Juárez have beaten Pumas in the last meeting between the two sides, winning 3-1 at home in September 2025, but three of the last five ended in draws or narrow wins, so Pumas are taken to edge this contest.
