- Bristol City have won two of their last five (D1, L2).
- QPR have won 10, drawn two and lost eight of their 20 home Championship games.
QPR should be too quick for the Robins
Queens Park Rangers are a very strong team this season and look likely to overcome Bristol City in the Championship on Saturday, when this mid-table clash will be an early test of Roy Hodgson’s impact on the Robins.
QPR are the team in the better form of the two with three wins, one draw and one defeat from their last five. The Rs have been particularly good at home this season where they have won 10, drawn two and lost only eight of 20, averaging 1.85 goals per game.
Bristol City, who are currently one place ahead of QPR in 11th after 41 games (57 points apiece), have won only one of their last three away games with a draw and defeat to go alongside.
QPR have momentum
Julien Stéphan has really got his QPR side going since he took over in June 2025 and his compact 4-4-2 system has all the ingredients for success. His side defend in a mid-block, get men behind the ball when out of possession and then explode into the attack with lightning counter-attacks down the wings and through the two strikers.
It is a system that gives them a massive edge in the transition, especially as they have so many pacey players, and will surely test the new pragmatic set-up of Bristol City.
Bristol City went in a different direction when they appointed Hodgson in late March 2026 and are now more structured, but no less disciplined, playing a shape and sticking to it. The visitors will look to disrupt QPR’s build-up play and try to frustrate them.
Back the Rs for a home win
QPR will have the answer for the home win here because of their superior momentum and home form. They failed to beat the Robins here in their two most recent attempts, but this is a different QPR side that seems to be playing its best football right now.
The odds of 63/50 on them winning are too good to ignore, although there is no chance of them keeping a clean sheet against a side that will try to break them down on the break.
Rumarn Burrell is QPR’s top scorer in the Championship this term with ten goals in 26 appearances and should be backed to score on Saturday if you are looking for a goalscorer bet. Paul Smyth has scored three of QPR’s last ten.
Harvey Vale, who has three assists in QPR’s last five games, is in great form too and his crosses will be a constant threat for the visitors. Scott Twine has 11 in 40 for Bristol City and is a constant goal threat for them in this division.
