- Both teams have won three, drawn one, and lost one in their last five fixtures.
- Redditch United have a dominant home record with 13 wins at home, averaging 2.05 goals per game.
Promotion chasing pair should produce a good match
Rob Sinclair’s Real Bedford FC are third in the Southern League Premier Division Central with 72 points from 38 games, seven ahead of fifth-placed Redditch United.
The two promotion contenders have both been in good form lately and should produce a thrilling match at the Valley Stadium on Saturday. Redditch United have won their last two home games and pounded Leiston 4-1 at home last time out.
Real Bedford have won three of their last five games, bouncing back from a defeat at Kettering Town by hammering Bishop’s Stortford 4-0 at home. Their previous away game saw them beaten, however, so this game could go either way.
Tactical clash in style of play
Redditch United are built around a disciplined, youthful identity under Mike Fowler, who has created a team with a ball-playing centre-back duo and some lively wide players to provide pace at both ends. Reece Flanagan pulls the strings in a midfield-centric system, while Fowler’s men are adept at keeping things compact and keeping the ball.
Real Bedford’s front three are all mobile and interchangeable, thriving on the quick turns and transitions in Sinclair’s 4-3-3 system. The high-press style can catch teams out on their back foot, but can also open themselves up to counterattacks in a good versus good match.
In the reverse fixture, Redditch stunned Real Bedford 2-0 away from home, so they have the gameplan to disrupt the visitors’ rhythm in a similar fashion. But the bookies are right to favour the visitors here at 32/25, as Redditch United will be available at 33/20 and the draw at 5/2.
Betting angles abound
The Over 2.5 goals bet is favoured here at 18/25 because both have enough attacking quality to create opportunities in an open game. Redditch will try to keep things under control, while Real Bedford will want to press and play at speed. Midfield battles and wide play may well decide this one, but the more likely result is for Real Bedford’s pace and attacking quality to edge it.
Redditch’s defence can be stubborn, however, and it is hard to see either of these clubs taking this one by more than a one-goal margin. The result could go either way and there’s a chance this will finish level at 1-1.
