- Scotland have won their last three consecutive matches in all competitions.
- Morocco are undefeated in five games, with three wins and two draws.
Clarke's pragmatic Scots are on a roll
Steve Clarke has made his pragmatic mark on Scotland in his time in charge since 2019.
They sit top of Group C with three points from one game, with Morocco second on one point after their 1-1 opening draw with Brazil. The Atlas Lions haven't yet won a game on the road in this group, drawing their only such fixture so far, while Scotland beat Bolivia 4-0 in their only away trip thus far.
A clash of Scottish pragmatism and Moroccan flair
Morocco are not what they were in 2022, when they made history by reaching the last eight of the World Cup in Qatar, and are instead playing a more possession-based game under the relatively new reign of head coach Mohamed Ouahbi, who took the job in March 2026.
Scotland are more traditional in their setup, playing a compact shape with wing-backs and looking to counter and play on the break. They are a clear set-piece threat and should be able to outnumber Morocco if they are allowed to get forward. John McGinn is Clarke's World Cup scorer with one goal from one match, and he is a key man in Clarke's team, but Lawrence Shankland has scored three of Scotland's last nine goals and is a reliable out-and-out forward.
The game could turn on which side can control the wide channels
Morocco, by contrast, have the pacey, dynamic and creative wide players to be more of a threat in behind Scotland's defence. Brahim Diaz has one assist in World Cup action and could be a creative spark if he can link up with an attacking full-back or playmaker.
Ismael Saibari is Morocco's top scorer in the group with one, and he has a knack for finishing big chances. Achraf Hakimi has three assists in Morocco's last five games and is the team's most dangerous winger.
Morocco have a better recent record, but the Scots are on a great run
Morocco are clearly the more talented team on paper, but the value for a Scotland win seems too good to ignore here at 417/100. Morocco are on a good run, too, however, and are undefeated in their last five, but they've drawn their last two games and Scotland have won their last three.
The game should be tight, with Morocco keeping it tight and Scotland keeping it simple, and we're going for a low-scoring encounter here. Under 2.5 goals is our main selection, with BTTS - No our second selection.
The stats say it all, with Morocco scoring just once on the road in two World Cup Group C games, averaging one goal per away game, while Scotland have seen under 2.5 goals land in five of their last seven games.
