- UCD have won three of their four home games in the First Division 2026, scoring eight goals at the UCD Bowl.
- Wexford have won one, drawn two and lost one of their away fixtures in the First Division 2026.
- UCD have won each of the last three head-to-head meetings between the sides in all competitions, including a 3-0 win in the First Division 2025 six months ago.
UCD set for another victory
There are no serious rivals in the Irish First Division 2026 right now, but the table does have a few familiar foes that UCD and Wexford FC will see frequently over the next few seasons. UCD are currently third on 13 points from eight games, just one point above the 4th-placed Red and Whites.
With both sides on two-game winning streaks, it promises to be an interesting matchup on Monday, and with the home side available at 6/5, and Wexford FC and the draw both available at 9/4, we’re going for the hosts.
Andy Myler’s side have done exceptionally well to bounce back from a narrow home defeat to Cork City with consecutive wins, beating Cobh Ramblers 4-0 and Athlone Town 2-0 last time out. Myler has always been a patient coach, but has been able to marry it with a more structured possession approach here, while his young team has been excellent in controlling games at the right tempo, pressing in the right places and bringing the ball through the thirds.
The midfielders have been the spark for UCD’s young, but talented forward line, and there’s nothing quite as pleasing for a coach to see his team dominate the midfield as UCD have done this season. It should again be a tough evening for Wexford FC, who have failed to win on their last two trips to the UCD Bowl.
Wexford will make a contest of it
Ian Ryan has been a pragmatic manager for Wexford FC this season and after a mixed bag of results to start the season, his side are now on a two-game winning streak following a 2-0 win at home. Their previous victory was a 3-2 win over Treaty United, and they now have a solid base to work from.
Liam Doyle is in good form up front for Wexford, having scored three of their seven goals in the last five games, but overall, they play with a little more verticality than UCD and a bit more urgency to their game. Ryan’s team can also press aggressively in transition and are usually ready to pounce on second balls, so this clash between control and counter should be a fascinating tactical chess match.
However, the hosts look like the best bet given their solid home record, their superior record in the H2H and their slight superiority in form. But Wexford have been solid on their travels, averaging 1.50 goals per game and conceding 1.25, so we’re taking both teams to score - Yes at 31/50.
