- Viking FK have won two, drawn one, and lost two of their last five games in all competitions, drawing their only UCL 26-27 home match so far (D1, L0).
- Sabah FK have won one and lost one of their last two competitive away matches, but are yet to score on the continent, conceding four times.
- Both teams have been involved in open games recently, so we're expecting another entertaining fixture.
Tight turnaround for Tovuz
Just four days after recording their first-ever away defeat in UEFA Champions League 2026-2027, Sabah FK play at Lyse Arena in Norway, to take on a Viking FK side who will be keen to build on their first points in the competition. Wednesday's hosts are 33rd in the overall table with just one point from three games, while 'The Owls' are 25th on three.
Viking have been in mixed form this season with two wins, one draw and two defeats from their last five, but they've won two and drawn one of their last three at home. Morten Jensen's side, which has been a long-term project since the boss arrived in January 2021, are usually compact and effective on the break, and that has been a major factor in their European outings so far.
Jensen's men opened their UCL 26-27 account with a 1-1 draw at home to Atalanta and they've conceded three goals in total on home soil. They've had more to offer going forward since, however, putting three past Tromso IL at Lyse Arena in a 3-1 victory and three past FK Bodo Glimt in a 3-2 defeat on the road, so there is a clear contrast in styles.
Sabah can keep it close, but not win
Sabah's system is a fluid 4-2-3-1 that sees them press high up the field and use the width of the pitch to great effect. Valdas Dambrauskas' men are a good side, but they have also been in inconsistent form this term, winning two, drawing one and losing two of their last five, the last three of which were a 1-2 defeat to Borussia Dortmund, a 0-0 draw with FK Qarabag and a 3-2 loss to PFK Turan Tovuz.
Sabah have no points to show from their one away game in the UCL 26-27 so far and they are conceding an average of 4.00 goals per match on the trip, so there's plenty of hope for Viking to make inroads here. But they are also yet to register a goal, which could spell trouble when up against a side who've already shown they can score goals at will.
Viking are 43/100 to win on Wednesday, which is more than fair considering their respective records, but the Sabah can give them a good game, so we're going for a home win and both teams to score. The hosts are the more likely to grab a goal, but the visitors have enough bite to register in Norway and keep things interesting. Over 2.5 goals is also favoured at 2/5 as both sides will have a go in what should be an entertaining fixture.
Zlatko Tripic leads the Viking scoring charts in UEFA Champions League 2026-2027 with one goal in one game, but Peter Christiansen has been the main man this term, hitting six of Viking's 12 goals in their last five. He's their best finisher and most dangerous man on the field, so if you're having a flutter on the goals market, take the Dane to oblige.
