- Atletico Madrid have won four of the last five meetings with Getafe across all competitions, with the Madrilenians tasting defeat only once.
- Atletico Madrid have won both of their last two home games, while Getafe have failed to win in their last two visits to the Metropolitano.
- Atletico Madrid average 2.36 goals per game scored at home in LaLiga 2025-2026, conceding just 0.86 per game on average.
Atleti set to avenge the defeat to Getafe
Atletico Madrid will look to build on their 1-0 away win over Getafe in LaLiga 2025-2026 three months ago when they host the Madrilenian neighbours at the Metropolitano on Saturday.
Atleti have won 12 of their 14 home LaLiga fixtures this season, with one draw and one defeat, so a home win is expected in this contest between two of the most impressive sides in the league.
Oscar Fernandez’s men have the third-best record in Spain’s top tier with 54 points from 27 games and are in fine form, having beaten Real Sociedad 3-2 at home in their last LaLiga assignment and recorded a 1-0 win at Real Oviedo last weekend.
Getafe’s attacking talents can still threaten Atleti
Atleti are a pragmatic, defensively disciplined side that are tough to break down, as demonstrated by their record of just 0.86 goals conceded per home match in LaLiga this season. But they are structured and they can play, with Fernandez instilling a mentality in his side since his appointment in 2021 that combines a positional, passing style with devastating vertical transitions.
Alexander Soerloth is their main man up front with 10 goals in 26 LaLiga matches, but while Atleti are not prolific, they should get the better of Getafe, who are still clinging on to a respectable 9th place in the table with 35 points from 27 matches.
Pepe Bordalas is a direct manager who prefers a physical duel to a fancy football match and his Getafe side are a compact, tough to penetrate side that do not play with the ball as much as Atleti. They do things their way and it has worked of late with four wins in their last five games and only one defeat.
Back Atleti for home win and a tense 90 minutes
Getafe will provide a physical presence in the game and won’t give Atleti the space to play as they normally would, so it could be a tense 90 minutes. Getafe have won their last two games, including a 1-0 victory away at Real Madrid and a 2-0 home success over Real Betis.
Martin Satriano has three of Getafe’s last seven goals, so back him to get on the scoresheet, while Mauro Arambarri has been their most prolific goal-scorer in the LaLiga campaign with five goals from a midfield position.
Luis Milla, who has contributed eight assists in 26 league appearances, has been the principal architect of their play and they should have enough to cause Atleti some problems on Saturday. But Atleti are simply a better side with home advantage and should record the win.
They are odds-on to do it at 1.66, which is certainly not attractive enough given the local rivalry between these clubs and the recent history between the two coaches. But there is a greater betting angle here and that is for ‘Both Teams to Score - No’ at 1.5. It will be tough for Getafe to get a goal against Atleti, who concede only 0.86 goals per home match, while Bordalas’ side have conceded 18 goals in 13 away games and could still make this a long, uncomfortable night for Atleti.
