- Both teams have scored in most of the recent Liga MX meetings between these clubs, including a 2-1 win for Juárez in November 2025 and a 4-2 San Luis away win in October 2024.
- Juárez are 11th in Clausura 2026 with 16 points, and need a win to boost their Liguilla qualification hopes in the final round.
- Atlético de San Luis are 15th in the table, with 15 points, outside the top-8 and desperate for points to keep faint playoff hopes alive.
Juárez and San Luis to scrap it out on the border
FC Juárez are slight favourites at 2.1 to win Sunday’s Clausura 2026 clash with Atletico de San Luis, but the visitors are also in with a chance at 3.29 and the draw is priced at a juicy 3.6, so it could be close.
Juárez have had an up and down campaign under Portuguese boss Pedro Caixinha, who has given the club an element of Liga MX pedigree and a pragmatic approach to the game that suits many of his players.
The Bronces are a structure-first team that play with a compact shape, patient build-up and quick transitions from either a 4-2-3-1 or 4-3-3 system. Óscar Estupiñán, who has scored between five and seven goals in 2025-26, is their main man up front, but it’s the midfield duo of Guilherme Castilho and José Luis Rodríguez that provide the energy and creativity to switch from defence to attack.
Salles-Lamonge can get San Luis going against Juárez
San Luis are more of a positive possession-based side, playing at a faster tempo with more risk in midfield and full backs more inclined to get forward. After Abascal’s dismissal, interim boss Raúl Chabrand has to do his best to engineer a late-season revival.
All eyes will be on whether Juárez can keep João Pedro quiet on Sunday, as he is San Luis’ best player, leading scorer and key focal point of their attack, while Chabrand must hope that midfielder Sébastien Salles-Lamonge can unlock Juárez’s defense with his range of passing and assist returns.
Juárez have two defeats on the spin in April and only one win in their last five Liga MX matches, which is why their position in the Clausura standings is so poor. San Luis won away at Monterrey, but Atletico have two losses and two draws in their last five.
Go for goals at both ends
The weather in Ciudad Juárez should be mild and dry for this Liga MX clash, which seems a good recipe for an open contest of styles where the Bronces will look to punish San Luis if their full backs are too positive.
Both teams to score is the best bet at 1.57 because of the number of goals in recent meetings between the clubs and the fact that neither defense have been overly secure in 2026.
But with home advantage, the slightly better overall campaign and the odds, we’re going for a narrow home win as the most likely result in the outright market.
