- FC Juárez and Club Tijuana Xoloitzcuintles have split their last five Liga MX meetings, with no team dominating the other.
- FC Juárez and Club Tijuana are tied on 15 points in mid-table in the Clausura 2026 after 12 and 13 matches, respectively, in the Liga MX.
- The teams have the talent and temperament to give the other plenty of headaches, particularly if one team can keep the other out and score one goal.
Border-club rivalry adds spice to the contest
FC Juarez are the narrow favourites with the bookies at 1.9 to beat Club Tijuana Xoloitzcuintles de Caliente on Saturday afternoon, with the visitors at 3.6 and the draw at 3.75.
The head-to-head record between the two clubs does not suggest either way as the teams have split the spoils in the past five Liga MX meetings.
The clash of styles between FC Juarez and Club Tijuana should also intrigue bettors as Pedro Caixinha’s men line up in a flexible 4-3-3 or 4-2-3-1 and place greater emphasis on patient build-up, structured transitions and targeted bursts of pressing. By contrast, Sebastián Abreu’s men prefer to play in a pragmatic 5-3-2 or a compact 4-3-3, where defensive solidity and narrow blocks are prioritised and where counters are sudden and vertical.
The weather will play a role with mild spring conditions and potential water on the pitch at Estadio Olímpico Benito Juárez likely to suit the side which adapts best.
Both teams can score in a close contest
Both clubs will be looking to push their Liguilla ambitions late in the season as they are tied on 15 points in the middle of the table with three points to be won in the fixture.
Caixinha has made the Braveros solid and cunning enough to frustrate opponents with their patient, phased build-up play, opportunistic transitions and well-timed bursts of pressure. They have been erratic in the league with a gutsy 1-1 draw away at Puebla followed by an important 2-1 home win over Tigres and a magnificent 2-1 victory at América, but then a 3-1 defeat at Toluca.
Tijuana’s results have been a roller coaster of a similar kind with a 1-0 home win over champions Tigres and a 3-0 thrashing of high-flying León, followed by heavy 3-0 and 2-1 losses to Necaxa and Santos, respectively, and a 2-1 defeat to Atlas.
Both teams have some good attacking players and neither have been especially prolific in the recent past, but it may be that both get on the scoresheet in this fixture, for which the market price for 'both teams to score - Yes' seems very low at 1.57.
Tijuana have the sharpest goalscorer
Kevin Castañeda has five goals this season for Tijuana and scored in the win over Tigres and added a brace in the 3-0 win over León. Diego Abreu and Mourad Daoudi offer other attacking options while Unai Bilbao can be a set-piece threat for the visitors.
Óscar Estupiñán is Juárez’s top scorer in the current Liga MX campaign with four goals, playing as their main target-man and primary finisher. Guilherme Castilho and José Luis Rodríguez are the more creative players, with the latter noted as the club’s primary assist provider in recent club reports.
Juarez are without Madson and Bryan Romero through injury, while Tijuana have a full squad available for selection.
The result should be close and the home advantage and greater organisation of the Braveros should give them the edge, but Tijuana’s ability to hit the opponents on the counter will keep the game open.
