- Germany and Ivory Coast are both on three points in Group E of the FIFA World Cup 2026 after winning their opening games.
- Germany have won all five of their games in all competitions, scoring 13 goals in their last three matches.
- Ivory Coast have won their last four consecutive matches, including a stunning 2-1 away win over France.
Eagles are soaring
Germany are well placed to maintain their spot at the top of Group E when they take on Group E favourites Ivory Coast at the Toronto Stadium in Canada on Saturday. Julian Nagelsmann's side are in fine form, cruising to a 4-0 win over Finland last time out, after getting their World Cup campaign off to a flying start with a 7-1 hammering of Curacao.
They are the joint favourites to win the 2026 World Cup and will be confident of booking their place in the second round with another win over a highly talented Ivory Coast outfit. Nagelsmann, who took charge in September 2023, has brought fresh ideas and a tactical flexibility to the team, but his philosophy remains the same as his predecessors - high-pressing, fast-paced, vertical football.
The Eagles have been flying with their new manager in charge and have scored plenty of goals lately, which has helped them maintain a lead in the group on goal difference. Kai Havertz is Germany's main threat, having scored two goals against Curacao, and they should have plenty more joy here against a talented, but less physical, Ivory Coast side.
Elephants have long tusks
Emerse Faé has done an excellent job with Ivory Coast since taking the helm in January 2024, instilling a sense of discipline and creating a compact, yet explosive system. They rely on their pace out wide and can be devastating on the break, but Faé knows his side are good enough to impose themselves on the game, as they proved in their 1-0 win over Ecuador last time out.
Amad Diallo is the leading scorer in Group E after netting in their opener, but Wilfried Singo's pace was a massive factor in their World Cup debut, as was his assist for the winner against the Ecuadorians. Frank Kessié is the driving force in the midfield, where he provides box-to-box energy and makes late runs into the box.
Germany to win and both teams to score
Both teams are in red-hot form and this game will go a long way to deciding how Group E shapes up. Germany are in good form and will push the pace against an Ivorian side that will sit back and attempt to break them with speed on the counterattack. We fancy Germany to outgun their opponents, but we're also taking both teams to score.
Germany are 1.53 to win, while Over 2.5 goals is coming in at 1.71 and Both Teams to Score - Yes is 1.74.
