Barca look unstoppable
There has been plenty of talk about how the 2026/27 season will be the year of LaLiga's revenge, when the big clubs will be back and the Spanish top-flight will be the strongest in Europe once more. But that is not a conversation that can be made if Hans-Dieter Flick's Barcelona are in their current mood.
Flick has been at the helm since May 2024 and, after a slow start, his high-press, high-line system has started firing on all cylinders. His team are the pace-setters in the division after eight games and have won 5 in a row in all competitions - which is why Flick's men will approach Saturday's game with Los Verdiblancos with plenty of swagger.
Barça are not the only side in good form at the moment. Real Betis have won four and drawn one of their last five in all competitions and Manuel Pellegrini's men have also made an excellent start to the 2026/27 campaign. Pellegrini has been in charge since August 2020 and his side's measured, possession-first shape still looks well-drilled.
Betis have conceded just seven goals in seven LaLiga 2026/2027 games, so it's not as if they've been blasting teams off the field at the other end. But Juan Hernandez has two goals in this year's edition of the league and Barça have no player to match his reliable presence in the box.
Los Verdiblancos won't be overawed
Barcelona are the odds-on favourite for this game at 1.38, while Betis are 6.2 and the draw 5.4. Los Verdiblancos, who will be firmly in the mix near the top of LaLiga when the festive period arrives, have as good a chance of upsetting Barcelona as any club in Spain at the moment.
They won't be overawed by Barcelona's reputation or their current form and will play their own game. That should lead to an interesting clash of styles with Betis looking to control the tempo by overloading the centre of the park and playing the occasional vertical ball to slow the game down. Barcelona will try to suffocate them by pressing high up the pitch and hitting on the counter.
Flick's side have scored 34 goals in 8 games at an average of 4.25 per game in 2026/27 and can usually turn even small chances into a goal at the other end. That should see Barcelona take the spoils in the end, but with both teams in good enough form to suggest it won't be a walkover.
A few weeks ago, Barcelona looked unstoppable and the correct score markets wouldn't have been much use. But with Betis having won five of their seven LaLiga 2026/2027 fixtures, it's worth adding some diversity to the single bets in this game by taking both teams to score at 1.44.
The over 2.5 goals option at 1.28 certainly fits the wave of goals that Barcelona have been surfing, but with Lamine Yamal the creative spark in their side, as evidenced by his six assists in their last 18 goals, and his ability to stretch the game with every touch, both options should be live.
Barcelona beat Betis 3-1 in the last meeting between the sides in 2025/26, while Raphinha has almost doubled his goal output with 12 in 7 games, including eight in their last 18.
