Stalemate no more at Son Moix
After Real Madrid beat Real Mallorca seven months ago, Alvaro Arbeloa’s side appear to have put together a real championship winning campaign and could well have the momentum to claim another victory at Son Moix on Saturday. The reverse fixture at Estadio Bernabeu ended 2-1 to the hosts, and in the seven months since, Real Madrid’s progress has been exponential.
Los Blancos have gone from strength to strength since that 2-1 win and have built an extremely effective system under Arbeloa, which sees the team build in a structured manner, move the ball quickly in transition and press as a unit. The Madrid side can come and go with pace, but always with the structure of the team intact, while the intensity they press with means that most sides cannot afford to sit deep and counter with them.
Mallorca are one such side and Martin Demichelis has had to adapt since taking over at the end of February 2026. The side previously played a defence-first, low-block system, but Mallorca have been transitioning towards a more pro-active and intense style under Demichelis, pressing more and looking to play on the front foot when in possession.
Real Madrid’s momentum to continue
Real Madrid have won their last three LaLiga fixtures and will surely prove too strong for Real Mallorca this Saturday. However, with the hosts now attempting to play a more ambitious style and the visitors chasing the title whilst Mallorca battle relegation, a tactical battle with a few open periods could well be on the cards and the odds on an away win are understandably short.
Real Madrid should get the better of this fixture with the quality of their side and the momentum of their recent wins likely to carry them to another victory at Mallorca’s home ground. However, the value is better in the goals markets, so I’m backing an Over 2.5 goals selection and BTTS-Yes in this clash. Vinicius Junior has provided 3 of Real Madrid’s last 10 LaLiga goals and is a likely anytime scorer option, while Vedat Muriqi has 18 goals in 28 LaLiga appearances this season, including 2 of Mallorca’s last 5.
